I have been vaping for almost five years and using REO's for over four years. A few months ago I had settled on a .8 ohm micro coil on either an RM2 or a Cyclone on my Grands as my preferred all day vape. I of course still had the desire to try something new and shiny so I got a Cyclone AFC so that I could experiment with dual coils. My first attempt was a .4 ohm build. When I started vaping this set up I realized that this was too hot for my liking. However, I continued to vape until I just about went into a nicotine coma. Bear in mind that I was vaping 18 mg at that time. That was the end of that experiment and I went back to my .8 ohm single coils and was again happy.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago when Rob offered the RM4 and again I could not resist the urge to get something new and shiny. I had seen a couple of You Tube reviews where they indicated that this atty performed well in either single or dual coil builds. So when I received it I mounted my usual .8 ohm single coil. It was OK, but certainly not as good as either the RM2 or the Cyclone in this configuration. So I decided to try this dual coil thing again. I mounted a .4 ohm setup and reduced the nic level to 6mg. Again the first vapes I took seemed too hot but I persevered and actually started to enjoy it. I find it amazing how quickly ones mouth and throat adapt so that what seemed ridiculously hot at first soon becomes pleasurable. I thought it might have been the difference between the RM4 and the Cyclone so I mounted a similar setup on the Cyclone with the AFC and guess what the vape was very similar and quite good.
I have been seduced by The Sub-Ohm Dark Side.
I now start my day, when my throat is the most sensitive, with a .8 ohm single coil and about half way through the day switch over to the .4 ohm dual coils. Will I go lower? Only time will tell.
