Both of Oklahoma's senators voted against it. I'm really not against the bill, I'm just against it as written, so they did good and I didn't vote for either one of them.
Philip Morris essentially wrote the bill as an anti-competitive tactic against RJR. As many have already pointed out, this wasn't a fight between smoking rights advocates and smoking regulation advocates. It was a fight between Philip Morris and RJ Reynolds that was fought in the US House and Senate.
Exactly. The concept (that nicotine is a drug and that all drugs need to be regulated by the FDA) is solid and one I support. But the devil is in the details.
