Hi Everyone, So I've been building coils for a short period of time on a regulated mod and it's been okay. coils are normally 1.5 - 1.7 ohm and kick out some decent vapor. However the taste has been a little weak IMO and I started checking around and I ran across topics about surface area.

Then I did a little looking and ran into the topic of twisted 32awg kanthal. The information I saw went over how you can twist the 32awg wire and get the same "coverage area" or wraps but lower your resistance of the coil at the same time. This got me thinking and before I waste what little kanthal I have left I thought I would seek the wisdom of the fine folks here on ECF.

My Question : Is there a point where you will have too many wraps?

*** I'm thinking of twisting my 32awg kanthal and getting like 6, 7, 8 or more wraps to stay at the 1.5ohm area. I'm currently getting 3 or 4 wraps on my rda at the 1.5-1.7 ohm range. My thought is my ohms would still be safe / good for my regulated mod but increase the coverage area by a lot... which I think would be a good thing in my head.

Thanks
Kevin

On 32 gauge twist you should be good until about 10-12 wraps, but it also depends on the interior diameter (id) of the coil. Smaller id = less total wire. I wrap most everything on a 18 gauge syringe needle or a 1/16" drill bit. I just like small coils. If you try it and don't like it, go up to about 3/32" and 1-2 wraps less.
