Hi All

As a newcomer I bought a ego one e cig
It worked well for around 3 days (around 5 hour vaping per day)
Afterwards it gave horrible burnt taste with serious side effects for the throat and lungs next days (felt like I smoked 2 pack of cigarettes when waking up)
I changed the device to the next best thing (kanger subox mini) 0.5 ohm , 23 watts with the hope that the coil will not burn In a few days (they are expensive as hell at 4 euro) ...well looking on newcomers forum I already see there is a thread who complains about kanger subox mini burned coils.
Google it I see this is a serious issue with e cigs very frequent. As a newcomer to vaping this completely ruined my experience and I am disappointed with the manufacturers quality (99% of them Chinese btw)

This is a serious issue (with some health effects issues). I think the industry needs to clear its [edited] or even better be regulated by big tobacco companies...I thought this was evil at the beginning but feel the unregulated stuff going on will be the death of vaping

Also I hope the fake reviewers on the internet should be ashamed for their fake reviews on faulty products
WHY NEVER TOLD ME THAT THE 0.5 ohm coil on EGO ONE last 1 day?!?! (confirmed by manufacturer)...ONLY ONE reviewer revealed this ...scam... That disgusting from the vaping industry and I hope some serious regulation takes place.

i cannot speak for that particular tank, as i don't use one - NOR would I generalize a bad experience with one tank or coil type as the foundation for an industry wide regulatory witch hunt - I currently have 4 different tank types sitting in front of me with juice in them (uwell crown, kanger subtank, freemax starre pro, smok tfv4) and have essentially zero of the burnt coil health damaging issues you seem to feel are endemic... if the coil starts to taste like it may be dead or burnt, i change it - if that flavor has gotten into the juice in the tank, i dump the tank, rinse it, dry it and refill... zero issues... perhaps you should look at a DIFFERENT TANK and coil set up... the Ego ONE device you have is compatible with a number of different tanks, including the Kanger Subtank Mini, which my wife has had excellent results with... are they perfect? No. do they work? Yes. (at least a large number of people on this exact forum seem to think so based on PERSONAL EXPERIENCES)

when you refer to 'serious side effects for the throat and lungs' I can't help but think you kept vaping on a burnt coil... this seems to be on par with continuing to smoke a cigarette once the filter catches on fire... ideally, you should STOP if the coil is burnt, just as you would STOP if you were smoking the filter...

is it possible the device is defective, causing the coils to burn out prematurely?

Coils are not designed to last forever. And depending on the juice, replacement may need to be done sooner rather than later. This is true of ALL coils.

If the juice you're using has a tendency to gunk up coils, then yes, 3 days is not out of the realm of possibility for needing a change.

Just this morning I was using my ego battery with a clearomizer (still like those from time to time) and noticed it was tasting kind of funny, not how it normally taste. I changed the coil and back to the great taste I'm used to. I was told that once you get familiar with the devices you use you will be able to tell when it's time to change the coil. Like I mentioned in another thread of yours, I clean my coils for longer usage.

yup, as long as you don't burn them you can definitely get some extra mileage out of coils by cleaning em (i tend to do a soak in pga/ grain alcohol overnight, then a hot water rinse and let air dry)

I mentioned this in the other thread OP posted.

If I had to guess, based on what he's saying, it sounds like he might be using a thick/dark juice.

@TraceKira I am sorry you have so many problems trying to vape.

There are a few things you should know:

Not all reviewers actually use a device more than the time it takes to do the review, some reviewers are compensated by the manufacturer/seller of the mod for said review. Bottom line is, be sure you are watching a reputable reviewer, and generally never take just 1 persons opinion unless you know/trust them.

Sub Ohm vaping is not what I would recommend for a new vaper, unless all they want to do is blow huge clouds. I would suggest something above 1 ohm, at a low power setting to start with. I would suggest if you have the time to go watch this video review from the most thorough reviewer I have ran across in 7+ years of watching reviews. He talks about basically all the things a new vaper should know, talks about the history of vaping and the devices since the start, and gives a recommendation for a newer product geared towards the new vaper/current smoker. Please note the contest he mentions is now over :(

Some coils have trace residue from manufacturing, oil etc that can start out as a bad taste for the first 1-2 ml of juice as well. This used to be on pretty much every coil way back in the day, but has gotten much better now.

Many of us here struggled with getting the right product to suit our needs back in the days when vaping was new, your issues are not any different. It is possible to find things that are both better, and better suited for you. If in doubt, describe your situation in detail (which you did in the other thread) tell us whats going on, what you are using for a mod, AND e juice, flavor, strength of the nicotine, how much/often you use the device, how much e liquid you are going through a day etc, and we could better give you recommendations tailored to your situation.

There was an issue with fire buttons on the early version of the mod above, the paint caused some to stick, that issue has since been resolved. He caught it in a latter video. There was never an issue with the Stainless Steel one, no paint.

Just wanna add a recommendation to this, the Endura is super simple to use and it works great. I'd recommend it to any new vapers who just want a straight forward cig-esque experience.

Based on this and at least one other similar thread, the OP seems to have this problem with every set-up he/she has used (so far).

Clearly user error(s) and not an indictment against vaping, Joyetech, or Kanger.

Reminds me of the "these cans are defective!" scene from "The Jerk."

I have a neutral yellow Tabaco aroma ... Not sweet at all .

VG/PG ratio? Are you making it yourself? If not, who's it by? Nic level?

The color doesn't really matter. I've had clear juices that gunk my coils in no time. Hell, even flavorless 50/50 VG/PG still requires you to change coils once in a while.

There used to be more problems in the past I think with silica coils not wicking good and having a burnt taste, also as mentioned there could even be machine oil in the older clearo tanks but these days it doesn't seem to happen. The tfv4 coils are supposed to last quite a while as far as pre made coils go but some of those require high watts and go through juice fast. Theres also temperature control now thats supposed to eliminate any worries about overheating the coil but it can take a bit of reading around to make sure your settings are right and make sure you have the right coil head.
Also theres rebuildables where you make your own coil and wick and those can last a while, they require a few bits and pieces to be bought at the start but can save in costs in the long run but also require some practice at first too.
So theres a few options these days to eliminate this kind of issue, also if you shop around theres some cheaper coil packs these days as well as ordering from china though it can take a while to arrive.

I am not sure what eliquid you are vaping but I easily get a week or three from my ego one coil heads, any coil head I use in any tank really and even when my coil head has gotten to a point it need to be changed out I never get a burnt taste from any of them. All coil heads have to be replaced as the coil and wick get gunked up from the eliquid you are vaping, some eliquids can gunk up a coil in a day, but, even at 4 euro they are still cheaper than a pack of cigs a day.

I feel though your problem is user error versus a coil head issue or industry issue or reviewer issue or a regulation issue.

The only way a coil gets a burnt taste is if you vape it dry, meaning very little eliquid is on the wick in the coil when you hit the fire button to vape, and you actually burn the wick in the coil, period. A dry hit not only taste terrible it can give you that sore throat feeling because you inhaled burning wick smoke. After you burn the wick that coil head will always taste burnt no matter how much you saturate the wick with eliquid again. The coil head is destroyed once the wick has been burnt and seriously even the government can not regulate away you dry burning your coil wicks. As for the death of vaping misinformation and the misinformed are playing a big role in that, please do not add to it, become educated and learn how to use your equipment properly.

I was going to reply to the thread similarly, but I am glad you did first! You were much more polite than I would have been and still got the point across.

I can feel your frustration.

I use factory coils, and have done for 3 years. The only type I had permanent issues with was the very early design of Kanger Protank.

You may know the English expression ' bull in a china shop ' .. that kind of seems how you are approaching this.

Perhaps you should be asking why some things are going wrong for you... we want to help, all of us. :)

Simply buying equipment and expecting certain things is not always how it works. As I said before, your first kit was a high power e-cig which a lot of people would not enjoy using.
Now, you have bought another type and you might find vaping at 23w won't give you 7 days from your coil. You might also be vaping a liquid that is quite 'heavy' with it's flavouring.

I've used 14 (guess) packs of Aspire BVCs and 6 packs (fact) of Kanger OCCs in the last 18 months. I mostly buy them from China and not one has been bad.

These are still early days in the technology and the demand for higher power has not always improved the success of things. Regulating products and only allowing tobacco companies to carry out these developments would kill vaping. This is what the EU Tobacco Products Directive wants.

So, we all have to take some knocks. It's always better to ask than feel the need to complain.

Hang in there. :)

If your drive your car into a tree would you blame a car manufacturer?
