I am pretty sure that at 35 w my atomizer will be burned to a crisp
Then you're doing something wrong. At 0.5ohm resistance, you should be very comfortable between 25-35watts.

another question: do you know what wattage you should be running at for the different resistance coils you are using?

I use 15 watts for both 0.5 and 1.2
This is the only way to avoid horrible burnt taste

This is my normal setting on my subtank. You can see it says 36.0W and the resistance is at 0.5OHM. If you're burning your coils that quick, something is wrong. I am really thinking it's the nic hit you're actually getting and not the burnt hit you're claiming.

I sometimes go up to 50watts for the nice, smooth warm vape. but those are quick hits or else you get the burn. in any case, if you cant seem to resolve your problems and instead blame the equipment and settings for your issues, you're done. vaping's at this level is not for you.

That why vaping industry needs regulation

Hmmm...

TraceKira, many people here have tried to help you, but you seem to prefer to argue rather than listen to their advice.

If you're a beginner and find that sub-ohming is too much for you, I suggest you switch to something less aggressive, like Kanger Aerotank, Eleaf GS Air tanks or Nautilus mini. Those are all great devices and perfectly suited for mouth-to-lung, low wattage vapers (like myself). Or learn how to use your sub-ohm devices properly--they can be run in non-sub-ohm mode; you just have to choose your coils correctly, prime them, and adjust your wattage and airflow accordingly. There are many educational videos on YouTube--try pbusardo, for starters.

And good luck.

Hi All

As a newcomer I bought a ego one e cig
It worked well for around 3 days (around 5 hour vaping per day)
Afterwards it gave horrible burnt taste with serious side effects for the throat and lungs next days (felt like I smoked 2 pack of cigarettes when waking up)
I changed the device to the next best thing (kanger subox mini) 0.5 ohm , 23 watts with the hope that the coil will not burn In a few days (they are expensive as hell at 4 euro) ...well looking on newcomers forum I already see there is a thread who complains about kanger subox mini burned coils.
Google it I see this is a serious issue with e cigs very frequent. As a newcomer to vaping this completely ruined my experience and I am disappointed with the manufacturers quality (99% of them Chinese btw)

This is a serious issue (with some health effects issues). I think the industry needs to clear its [edited] or even better be regulated by big tobacco companies...I thought this was evil at the beginning but feel the unregulated stuff going on will be the death of vaping

Also I hope the fake reviewers on the internet should be ashamed for their fake reviews on faulty products
WHY NEVER TOLD ME THAT THE 0.5 ohm coil on EGO ONE last 1 day?!?! (confirmed by manufacturer)...ONLY ONE reviewer revealed this ...scam... That disgusting from the vaping industry and I hope some serious regulation takes place.

I've never had this problem and yes I own both the Ego One Mega and recently the Subox Mini. Both the 1.0 and 0.5 coils have lasted me up to a month if not longer, but then again I don't chain vape unless I've been drinking. I'd say I take 5 to 7 long draws every hour or so. I've also heard many claims of joytech CLR coils lasting just a day for many people so I honestly think there must be a problem somewhere. Either a defective coil or perhaps this happens with chain vapors.

And as far as the Subtank Mini goes, I've been using my 0.5 coil for almost 3 weeks anywhere between 25 to 35 watts and just yesterday I started getting the first warning signs that it's ran it's course.. Slightly burnt taste and vapor production requiring either a higher wattage and/or a longer draw. I'm still very new to all this but this has been my experience so far.

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks (since Dec 3) that I haven't had a cig!

I already have the device and coil. I wont experiment anymore
If it doesnt work i will throw it in the bin and burn it with gasoline

Sounds like a plan! If you're not willing to learn how to use your equipment correctly, vaping is clearly not for you. May I suggest Nicorette?

I am not siding with the OP here, but you are using the RBA. We all know that the RBA is a COMPLETELY different animal to the factory OCC coils. That is why it has been suggested that the OP look into using the RBA.

It is complete misinformation, in my opinion, for you to be telling a new vaper using OCCs that he should be vaping at a higher wattage when he already is getting burnt hits.

That is true. That is the RBA. However, when i started using the tank, i had the 0.5ohm coilhead for the first three weeks. i also have replaced the coilheads with the same 0.5ohm replacements until my 5-pack ran out. It's the same situation, except I rewick more often now and have less airflow. but the point is at 36watts, he cant be having the burnt hits he's talking about.

Also, if he's already having issues with a prebuilt, screw in, easy peasy coilhead, how much more headache will he have using the rba?

anyway, this guy isnt looking for a solution. he's looking to complain and then try to belittle anyone who tries to tell him how he's a beginner in the beginners' forum.

Wow...just wow. This is the first time since I joined that I've run across this kind of discussion. It's highly unusual, to say the least.

@TraceKira - everyone's just trying to suggest things that may help you solve your problem. Other people who've been vaping longer have probably at some time experienced the same burning coil taste that you get now. If they've learned some things that may stop it...why be insulting when they pass those things along to you? I don't get it at all.

All methods of vaping require learning how to use your equipment routine maintenance and experimenting with all the variables to find what works best for you/each individual.

Sounds like you started off with a set up you didn't understand or know how to use and all you got was frustration, no reason to vent your frustration on folks trying to help.

Since you won't answer simple questions that may help us help you, and it seems you are unwilling to learn how to use what you have or get something that will be easier for you to use.

Sounds like a good idea, may I suggest using a 3lb ball peen hammer instead to eliminate risk of a fire getting out of control.

That is clearly whats going on here , it's unfortunate but quite common , whats not as common is someone who has zero patience to learn and wants things fixed at the snap of a finger.

I dont know , but i observed something strange , if i take a direct lung hit for longer time i can feel some kind of peppery feeling on the back of the throat
Is this normal?
(0.5 Ohm , 15 watts , Kanger SubOx Mini, 6 mg nicotine)

Some brands of nicotine absolutely have a peppery taste, I hated it when I bought a supposedly unflavored nicotine one for DIY. For others it may be well liked. You may want to try a different brand of e liquid if you do not like the pepper.
