Hello everybody

Its been over a month since I came across a kiosk at the mall that had the I think it was Smoke Everywhere e-cigs and ever since then Ive been wanting to get an e-cig. I had to do research first. I have decided to get the DSE 901 from puresmoker with the pink LED  its cute!! I have probably read almost all the posts on here and to be honest it seems like too much work . . . confusing work.

I smoke in the car, at school, at work blah blah and from what I have read I picture myself takin out a syringe in the smoking area at school or in my car to fill 'er up. Do I have to carry multiple carts that I've pre-filled? Would it be messy if I did? Is it just constant fill up and changing of carts and batteries and cleaning atomizers?

It just doesnt seem convienient. I can understand vapin at home but what is it like in public? I guess what Im wondering is this:

What is a normal day like when you are out and about? Like what do you need to take with you? Do you fill/replace/top off carts? I dont know . . .

help . . .Im tempted not to buy cuz smoking seems easier!!

It all depends on your own style and useage.
You can go all day with one cart and 2 batteries, or you may need 3 batteries and a bottle of juice to top up the carts as the get dry.
Carts normally last a couple hours of use, so in the car it should be fine.
You CAN fill or take a few prefilled carts with you, when they have their little rubber boot on them they dont normaly leak much.
Batteries and juice is normally all you need to take for a day out.
The only way you would need more is if you get unlucky and an atomizer dies on you.
The syringe is good to fill with, but you dont need it every time. You can just drip on to the cart, it will be soaked up, when you see it pooling, its full.

Oh, edit, you can get a usb adapter you can use in the car with a cigarette/usb/lighter adapter with the USB battery for the E-cig. Only down side is the wire.

I don't like to smoke or vap in public. For me vaping is just a better way to get nic and the feeling of smoking without burning tobacco, privately. I don't like to share it with others. I have found that traditional smokers are a bit threatened...unless they want to quit or non smokers, smoke haters are threatened by the soooooo realistic look vaping is. Inhaling and exhaling... Everyone has a different experience. Just do a search on the forum.

Eh, when you think about it, it isn't really much work, it's just different. When ya smoke regular smokes basically you just pick up your pack, your lighter and you're good to go. This past week I usually just toted a couple of batteries, an atomizer, one cart, and some juice around in my backpack and I was fine. If the cart got a little dry I just topped it off, and if the battery went dead (which it didn't, cause I usually unscrew it from the atomizer once I'm done taking a few hits on break) I knew that I had a spare handy. It's just like if you breezed through a whole pack of smokes and you have a spare waiting for you. Ya just gotta be prepared.

JHerz, I totally agree with you. But trying to drip and drive has been my prob...harder than finding the lighter in my purse...trying to get the drip in the cart has I drive...guess you just gotta have extra carts to pop in instead. then you are just trying to find the cart as you drive. this comes from a disorganized eciger. I love not having to have to buy cigs. I love not finding the lighter...I love not smelling like icky smoke.

How many times can/should you drip onto the cart before you need to get a new one?

It really depends what your dripping and how old, or how long since you cleaned it.
Sometimes you get a film/gunk on the top layer of the cart that prevents the liquid getting through as well as normal, then you need to change them, or clean/rinse them out.
I use mine constantly, I am a ChooChoo. I need to clean mine about every other day, but optimally, it should be done every time i recharge the battery, wich would be every 3-4 hours.
A 901 has a smaller surface area, it may need cleaning more then a Pen style, like every other time you fill it, but thats a guess, again it depends.
Everything with E-cigs depends on how you personally use them.

I mentioned that the carts go for a couple hours, and for most people they do. My pen carts go at least 2 hours of constant use, 3-4 if a little less use, about as long as my battery charge, which, now i think of it, is pretty cool, and maybe not a coincidence but in the original design.

I've taken one of the battery chargers of mine to work so I can charge batteries there during the day. What I normally take with me is my ecig, a couple of batteries, a spare atomizer, a bottle of juice and a couple of cartridges. Then I just top up as required during the day. It's simple enough. I carry all of that in an old glasses case I've got.

If I'm going out for the evening I'll pre-fill four or five 901 carts rather than take a bottle of juice with me.

this is really quite simple. when out and about or driving etc use carts. when in the privacy of your home etc then drip. each cart should give you at least 4 cigarettes worth of e smoking so on the assumption that you are a 20 a day smoker and that you are outside of your home for an average 12 hours a day then that would suggest that you would only need to carry 3 carts with you. (actually just 2 spare ones as one would be in your e cig already).

before you leave home in the morning just top up 3 carts with some juice. even if you took all the cores out, washed them, dried them and then filled it would take a maximum of 5 minutes of your time.

every time you use a new cart, take the stopper out and put it into the old cart. you now have a sealed cart which you can top up and carry around with you without fear of leaking.

when i go out i take my e cig, a spare battery and a couple of carts. i keep all these in a mp3 case i purchased for £3.00 and its actually smaller than a box of cigarettes.

when you smoke a regular cigarette you have to go through a process...........take out box, take out ..., take out lighter, light ..., put box back, put lighter back.

when smoking an e cig there is also a process...........take out e cig, smoke, put back e cig. or worse case scenario.........take out e cig, replace new cart, smoke, put back e cig.

what is easier?

you could even just use the e cig for when you are at home and then analogues for when you are out. not the best way to quit but at least you will cut down dramatically and i wouldnt be surprised if e cigs gradually replaced your smoking altogether over time.

dont put too many obstacles in your way mate, get yourself an e cig and enjoy it!

If I am using my 901, I drip my juice in the cart until it looks juicy again, and then enjoy unitl it is empty..

And if I am using my Jr. I don't even bother with carts at all.. Just 2 or 3 drops right into the atomizer, and I am good to go for about 15 puffs.

Really easy stuff once you get used to it.. only part that still gives me trouble is remembering to refill or drip before I get into the car. I hate running out and having to wait for a stoplight to fill er up again! hahah

Dazy, your initial assumption that began this thread is correct. E-smoking is more trouble than cigarette smoking. But everyone here surely feels it's worth it, for health reasons alone, if nothing else. E-smoking is akin to pipe smoking. Lots of stuff, lots of fiddling, lots of maintainance chores. No such thing as light it, use it, toss it.

Your life will be easier if you prepare before going out. A good carrying case of some kind is needed to tote your stuff. You'll need an extra battery and at least one extra cartridge. When in a car, I use the USB cord in the car's power outlet, to give the battery a rest.

We used to leave the house by making sure we had a full lighter and enough cigarettes. (Still, if necessary, we could buy cigarettes at every corner convenience store; can't do that with e-cigs). E-smoking is more complicated, until disposables rule. So just plan ahead and you'll be fine.

I usually just take my penstyle and 901 with me and a bottle of juice. Once you get the hang of it, it will be much easier. When I'm going out to the bar I usually use just my 901 andd take an extra cart and juice. It is more work (and money so far) than analogs but it has been so well worth it. You gain so much more than you lose in the long run. (I would think it is more difficult for guys being that us women have purses we can keep all the stuff in.)

For everyday use: I keep a box of carts with me and just put in a new one when I need it. I keep the used carts and fill them when I'm at home.

I just returned from a 10 day trip in a non smoking rental car and staying in non smoking hotel rooms. Here's what I found:

While driving use cartridges. Easier to change than dripping or refilling. (Had to pull off highway to refill carts, too dangerous to do while driving.) Keep the carts for refilling when you get to your hotel room. Bring plenty of fresh carts. I drove 16 hours over two days to get to my destination and the same on the way back.

Batteries, Batteries, Batteries. And more batteries. ;) Charge them all overnight.(I brought 3 chargers with me.) I have however determined that a car charger is probably not a bad idea and have ordered one for my next trip. Nothing more frustrating than the battery running out.

Extra atomizers. I actually took 4 with me. One died when one of my batteries got stuck in "on" mode and burned it out.

Keep your e-smoking supplies in your suitcase out of sight of the cleaning crew when you're not in your hotel room. One hotel tried to get me to pay extra for smoking in a non smoking room. (The manager came up and "smelled" my room and determined that there was no odor so I saved $200.)

As usual: This was my experience on this long trip. How much you vape etc is going to determine your needs.

:D Thanks for all the replies!!! Really good info!

Just reading the forums without having bought and messed around with one yet, there was a lot of information that didnt make sense and was a little overwhelming.

I actually never smoke at home, but I have reads the other threads about some ...... off smokers. I will try not to cause problems though . . . tee hee. No, really, I dont want to give e-smokers a bad name!

Its worth it to me to quit smoking even if there is a little more work involved.

resistance if futile! Im gonna go buy mine NOW!!

I've only been using my eCig for the past few days, so I've not had much chance to use it 'out and about' but, so far, from using it at home, it isn't anymore hassle than smoking anologues.

I'm a rollie smoker though so my routine is a wee bit different to most smokers. Usually I need to get the tin out of my bag, retrieve the filters and papers, grab a paper and add a filter to the end and then fill up with tobacco, finishing by rolling, licking and sticking. Then there's the times that I do all of that only to find out that the paper doesn't stick. I then have to repeat all of the above, after a wee moan about crap papers etc... :p

That's been replaced by pulling a cart from the atomizer/ getting a new cart, dropping a few drops of juice onto it, replacing it and vaping [and in-between charging batteries which take 2 seconds to plug in].

So far I'd say I'm cutting down on the time spent preparing my 'smoke'. ;)
