How do you think I feel? I live in Mass. Now we'll get to deal with whomever he's nominated as his heir...I'm still not quite sure how it's legal for him to appoint his successor.
Your assuming that laws actually apply to government and law enforcement. Much of what's done by the government is in direct violation of laws, and until some with enough money to challenge it is willing to spend that money, those laws keep getting broken. Kennedy' passing will finally end at least one ear and join McCarthy in the history books, but the current FDA overstepping it's boundaries is what concerns me the most. How in any good conscience can any origination that's "supposedly" supposed to look out for the health interest of the public be trying to outlaw something that is relatively harmless leaving smokers no alternative but retuning to tar laden, carcinogenic analogues is beyond me.

Only with a total disregard for public health and the law can something so blatant be allowed to happen based on nothing more than prejudice and profit.

The only words of the whole article that I liked were, "The ailing senator Ted Kennedy."
The day he dies and spends the rest of eternity in hell, will be a happy one for me.

LOL, just yesterday I told my sister that this would be his last truly great sell out before heading off to hell.
Perhaps just a coincidence, perhaps.

I am SOOOO happy I decided to grow my own tobacco. My little babies are almost big enough to go into the ground. Now all I have to do is order my chocolate, double mint, apricot, peach and cinnamon food extracts (I already have the kahlua), so that I will be ready to make my own snus at harvest time. How wonderful it will be to have the US government and the FDA COMPLETELY out of my tobacco using business. Guess they will have to find another source for tax dollars. Pity.

Sad thing is this bill is attached to someone who will most likely croak soon. This is not a coincidence. That will make it a lock for passing in his name as soon as he goes down for the count. A sad commentary on how the Congress works in the good 'ole USA.

That's not correct. This bill (HR 1256) is Henry Waxman's. The Kennedy/Dodd bill is a general health care package and it hasn't reached the Senate floor yet and won't have an SR designation until it does.

Cheers to that, Grumpster. Very eloquently written synopsis of all of our stances on the matter of electronic cigarettes. If you're ever in Dallas, I'll buy you a beer.

You know, there's always the chance Obama will veto this whole mess.

If he does, I guarantee him my vote next election. I'll sacrifice my Ron Paul vote for such an act, no question.

Wishful thinking.

Highly unlikely. The only glimmer of hope is the fact that he's a smoker, so he may have a strong opinion about the legislation. A veto would be a risky calculation for him, though. The last thing he wants to do right now is piss off the left wing of his coalition.
