just about everyone is voting yes:-x

Of course they are. Would you want to go back to your constituency and say that you voted against regulating tobacco? Smoking and smokers are the victims of a heated culture war. Even if the legislation is deeply flawed (which it is) it would be politically dangerous to oppose it at this point. Even Burr wasn't opposing the bill, but proposing modifications that would have made it more palatable to a certain audience.

"So this is how liberty dies....... to thunderous applause."

I had to, the quote is so apt. This monster is going to pass. How much you wanna bet that we see some movement on the SE & njoy vs FDA case now.

Now now. This isn't the end of the world. We have yet to see what impact the legislation will have. Besides, if you want to see "liberty die" then watch CSPAN more. This FDA bill is FAR from the most idiotic legislation passed by the Senate and House.

Did you expect anything different? Well it still has to go through Obama... ooohhh, wait.... hes another one who thinks the government knows whats best for me... nevermind. Consider it passed and regulated folks!

Partisan much? Seriously, what politician DOESN'T think that the government knows what's best? That's why they get into it. If they didn't think the government knew what was best for people they would have taken up jobs in the private sector.

Sorry. Im not into politics, so partisan means nothing to me. However, in response to your question, I know this much: There are politicians who think less government in my life is good, and there are those who think I need to be told how to conduct my life from the cradle to the grave. What we have currently, is a cradle to the grave administration. Or at least heading that way.

My best,
-VP

I've been following politics since the '70s. I have never experienced a single administration that couldn't be described in that way. If you listen to the rhetoric you can get a very skewed impression of what these guys are all about. But if you look at their voting records, the bills they author, the legislation they sponsor and so forth, you'll see very clearly that they ALL want to control as much of your life as they can. Republicans don't have any better record in this area than Democrats. In fact, the previous administration was far more "government interventionist" than the current one. Look beyond the rhetoric. They can, will and do lie to get votes all the time.

Right - The irony is the Republican side is more likely to tell you how to live no matter what ideology they may claim - Gay Marriage - Terrie Shrivo(sp?) - The patriot act - Abortion - Yea - They don't get involved in telling you how to live - LMAO :lol::lol:
