Senator vrs Senator - Florida Senator Stearns says DO NOT BAN e-cigs !!!!

Stearns shot back at Lautenberg on Monday, saying that there is no evidence that the device is harmful.

“Before the FDA takes any immediate action, it should put forward scientific evidence that these products are harmful or unsafe,” he said in a statement.

“These e-cigarettes are smokeless and do not produce carcinogens. The nicotine in e-cigarettes is controlled in a capsule that can help in smoking cessation by allowing the user to reduce gradually the nicotine level, hopefully to zero.”

Stearns has sent electronic cigarettes to House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) and President Obama to help them quit smoking. He’s been seen using the device in the Speaker’s Lobby, where Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) banned smoking two years ago. Her office did not respond to a request for comment by press time.

Yeah, the guy is correct they need to do research before making a decision.

Mainly the decision is based on 2nd hand smoke either exhaled or residual.

If that 2nd hand smoke can be captured and it leaves a resin, which can be tested for chemicals. *the vapor creates some kind of residual leftovers (resin), thats not up for debate*
Vape does create a resin, its possible the resin is diffused in the air so fast that it cant collect 2nd hand or on clothes/membranes except direct to the lungs from the pipe, or the resin does stick to things but is not detectable, or the resin sticks to things and is poison.
If vape didnt have a resin you couldnt inhale it and get nicotine.

Everything thats chemical and burns or vaporizes leaves a residue which then diffuses, an atomizer isnt nuclear fission. Its just a heating element, when you *heat* a liquid it vaporizes, when you *heat* solids they burn/melt/smoke.

Lighter is very hot 1000+ degrees or more at the blue core flame, vaporizers for solids *probably work with liquid too if dripped and at the high 400 degree mark* burn at 275-400 oven temps below broil of 450, a real cig ember burns pretty hot above broil, an atomizer e-cig temp is probably above the boiling point of the e-liquid which maybe a bit hotter than waters boiling point +100-200 degrees for fast vaporization. They key to making the liquid atomizer is the liquids boiling point and your atomizers heat production.

If the chemicals leftover 2nd hand in vape resin, *nicotine/flavoring/PG or VG* can be proven harmful when breathing in regular amounts they may ban it.

If it comes back the e-vape diffuses quickly, too quickly for 2nd hand absorption they wont ban it. Or invisible particles stick to things 2nd hand but the chemical is fine they wont ban e-cig.

Hey if they ban you can still order from china, they will label it something else like cell phone parts. They will just sell us Nic and essences seperate we can make our own juice. You can probably get the chems here in the US local.

EVEN if its banned we can still get them....

its only a ban on import/sales not a ban on owning.

The most they can enforce once we get them in the US, is a nicotine product law, 18 and above.

Let's just hope they don't do "tests" on e-cigs like they did pot to try to demonize it.

Remember the whole "pot kills brain cells" myth that they used to use? It's because the brilliant scientists that did this test hooked up monkeys to a gas mask type device where pot smoke was forced into the mask. So basically the monkeys all asphyxiated from smoke inhalation and died.

When the monkeys were autopsied they pointed to the damage caused by asphyxia and hence the whole "pot kills brain cells" myth.

Gotta love modern science.

They would have to prove that vaporized nicotine+flavoring+PG/VG kills brain cells, this is much harder to prove than THC kills brain cells. It does kill brain cells. Pot is still cool.

ALso it goes beyond that, the problem with smokes is OTHER PEOPLE, so they have to prove vape smoke sticks around and collects, that it doesnt diffuse very quickly and doesnt leave hand smoke.

Regular smokes 2nd hand smoke does not diffuse quickly and it leaves a resin everywhere, it lingers.

Vape probably does kill some braincells, does its 2nd hand smoke collect in membranes like, sponge/lungs/cloth and at the same time cause harm to others in any resonable degree.

Supply and demand. You're absolutely right.

People will always find a way to get the product they want no matter what laws are in effect.
