I live in Pennsylvania and my brother lives in Maryland, and his drip tip to his vivi nova was loose so I sent him a used one in a little zip lock baggie wrapped in a paper towel, and he received the package/envelope except it was broke into and everything was present except the drip tip. This is very strange as It might have been checked with the Post office and taken out.I wonder if they take something like this thinking its drug paraphernalia and then have it checked at a lab somewhere??It was in a little baggie, Strange.

The most likely explanation is that the mail sorting machine mangled the envelope with the contents becoming separated somewhere in the bowels of the sorting machine. This is not an infrequent occurrence with irregularly-shaped things stuffed in envelopes.

Tape small, odd-shaped items between a sandwich of corrugated cardboard with the corrugation of the two pieces running perpendicular to one another. That keeps the envelope flat and the corrugation prevents bending.

Careful about mentioning the big d word on here. I got my wrist slapped once by a moderator on here for a small mention of my past (and my apologies to retired 1). Dont want anyone to get in trouble.

Anyway, i work for a major delivery service in the US (not USPS). But small packages and envelopes get squished very often get squished by larger packages and bulks when they get unloaded from the trailers before they get sorted into small sort. From time to time, they fall in conveyor traps, below cage tracks, into gears of the conveyors, etc. i know this from years of working inside the building.

To the OP, your package (im guessing its a small) got torn up somewhere along the sort process. What we (and am guessing what USPS does) is that it goes to the 'over goods' section where broken, damaged packages get re packed. We take out the contents inside, save the package or mailing label, repackage with a new envelope, stick on the old mailing label for delivery or trailoring to another hub. That may be why it looks 'tampered' with.

BTW, for us, we get fed agents and local PD staff with canines sniffing for the illegal dangerous goods every so often.

i have had the post office open mail before they will ALWAYS reseal the envelope with tape that says Opened for inspection by Post Master. or something to that effect. in one case the opened a shrinky-dink plaque with 2 little plastic feet in a regular envelop. that upon reflection felt like pills or something of the like. The other was A bubble-wrap padded envelope that had small electronic parts and a 5ml bottle of liquid. (non ecig related)
