Serious arching on my Vanilla

So I gave my Vanilla a good bath last night. I washed all of the dirt, gunk/noalox off of each piece, polished the copper contacts and re-assembled. I also built a new coil on it: doge atty dual parallel 26ga at 7 wraps which clocked in at around .3ohms or so on my multimeter. The device was working fine but today I was noticing that it was mis-firing when I pressed the button. I pulled the battery out and the bottom of the battery and the copper bin above the switch were black. I assume that it is arcing down there and the power was not reaching the coils.

Any thoughts? I put the build on my Windrose clone and haven't had any problems.

Sounds like a layer of oxidation remains on that copper pin. What did you polish it with?
By the way, Noalox is only meant to prevent aluminum oxide build-up (which copper doesn't produce when it oxidizes). Try Ox-Gard instead ($5 at Lowes). For polishing, nothing I've tried works quicker than Mothers Mag Polish.

I polished it with soap and a little bit of toothpaste.
