I certainly couldn't have 'just' quit after a year of smoking... if quitting is going to be virtually impossible without a little help, this might be the way for you. Have you explored the patches/gum/inhalators? How much are you smoking a day? As you haven't been smoking all that long (comparatively), it might be worth you keeping it in the back of your mind that this is a way of quitting, not a replacement for cigarettes. I have read people refer to e-cigs as an alternative to smoking and I totally back them on this, but for you maybe consciously weaning yourself down the nicotine strength ladder would be better? You know yourself better than anyone and only you can make the choice to quit while you're ahead.

As a silly tip if you decide that vaping is for you, believe in the magic! If you don't believe that it will help you, it wont.

There's also plenty of support here on the forum- I wouldn't be 22days analogue free (and counting!) without e-cigs and everyone on here's support!

Good luck!x

Jordan,

Absolutely vaping is for you! I am not a traditional smoker, but I do enjoy the social aspect, especially with cigars. I have found that by using my e cigar I am able to be MORE social, especially around those that don't smoke. I no longer have to go outside and my girlfriend doesn't make me shower before getting near her.

Its great!

FWIW I was smoking up to a pack and a half a day for 30 years. I wanted to quit after the first 6 months and couldnt do it. my parents didnt know I smoked but that didnt stop me. Over the last 30 years Ive tried to quit many times but could never get it done. Tried patches, gum, pills, cold turkey, nothing would stick. The day after I started vaping, i dropped analogs. Going on 6 months now so vaping helped me where nothing has before.

If you can quit cigarettes, do it. But i know that the person has to want to stop for them to have any chance, and even then its far from a sure thing. If you cant stop (or dont want to), I would say vape. It harm reduction, not elimination, but its better than smoking.

Good luck!

I agree & I'd most certainly give it a try. I started pretty much the same way you did until it became a pack a day habit. At that time I was 16. Now almost 15 years later I've found out about vaping & in one week I've cut myself down to 0 analogs. I'm able to still stand outside with my coworkers while they smoke their cigs & I smoke my ecig without getting tempted. If anything I'm like...that ..... stinks!! Definitely try it! But don't try one of those gas station ecigs. Purchased one before getting my ego-t & they don't even compare!!! It was a total waste of money in my opinion!!

Good Luck!!

Take advantage of your youth. If you can quit analogs on your own so much the better. If you enjoy vaping go for it, however be aware of the addictive nature of nicotine. One issue I never gave thought to was increased premiums for life insurance. I would bet that's the furthest thing from your mind right now, but someday it may cost you financially.
I have battled addiction in one form or another for a considerable part of my life and it has left nothing but regrets.
Make informed desicions and I wish you the best.
