FWIW I was smoking up to a pack and a half a day for 30 years. I wanted to quit after the first 6 months and couldnt do it. my parents didnt know I smoked but that didnt stop me. Over the last 30 years Ive tried to quit many times but could never get it done. Tried patches, gum, pills, cold turkey, nothing would stick. The day after I started vaping, i dropped analogs. Going on 6 months now so vaping helped me where nothing has before.
If you can quit cigarettes, do it. But i know that the person has to want to stop for them to have any chance, and even then its far from a sure thing. If you cant stop (or dont want to), I would say vape. It harm reduction, not elimination, but its better than smoking.
Good luck!
