Ok so the good, 21 days no real cigs. The bad even with using the tobacco essence ejuice I managed to gain 6 lbs. Not happy. I am trying to find a way or a good at home yoga plan to lose the weight. Main thing is the discouraged feeling of the weight gain. Any one else have fluctuations like this when in the first month of quitting. I use an Volcano ecig known as the inferno. It is liken to a eGo with a tank or tube like reservoir for holding extra juice. I use a 8mg as I in past had some issues with 16 mg being a bit to strong. I would try finding a 12 mg but the problem is I tend to not want to deviate from using the vendors product incase something would go wrong with the unit while under warranty. I don't want them to say oh you used x brand in our item so its your fault not ours. I doubt highly they would do that as they have been extremely good to the husband and myself with any issues we have encountered. The hard part is not running to hte store to get regs as I blame the e on the gain. Is this bizarre fluctuations normal?

Not sure what is going on. When I quit smoking and started vaping I actually LOST weight. Not a lot, no...but overall I think around 10 pounds over the first 9 months or so. I just enjoyed vaping so much I wanted to vape instead of snack, I guess.

Chances are this is just a temporary thing as your body sheds the toxins from the cigarettes you used to smoke. If you aren't really EATING more, that's probably it. Or a hormonal fluctuation...or just water retention. It's not unusual to have a 5lb. fluid retention on any given day.

Yup. I've actually lost a few pounds. For most of us, a real smoke acts as a way to curb hunger. I have always been a real meal skipper because of smoking. Now when I feel hungry, I reach for the protank and a bottle of water. But let's face it, the weight gain isnt because of the vaping. You would have been eating twice as much if you just quit smoking cold turkey. 6lbs is nothing, 60lbs is a problem. If you feel really bad, just start using those healing lungs. Walk, run, jog, exercise, sex, whatever gets the heart pumping and you'll be happier in the end. Stick with the vaping if it's keeping you off the stinkies.

As far as the nic strength just get some 0nic in the same flavors and some extra or empty bottles and mix it down to your nic level

I did the sweet desert style flavors and actually lost weight be cause I quit snacking - drinking more water helped a lot also

That's what I did and it worked

I can't think of a logical reason for weight gain switching from cigarettes to e-cigarettes, unless you are in fact eating more now. That's an entirely different issue.

I agree that smoking tends to curb one's appetite. However, I didn't experience an increase in appetite switching to e-cigarettes. Since you have stopped cigarettes, you should be experiencing added energy and physical endurance in a cardiovascular sense, so why not start an exercise program...even if it is just taking a daily walk to work off those added few pounds? :)

Welcome to "week 3". Some have minor withdrawal even while using e-cigs. I think it was week 2 or 3 for me. There's an adjustment period for many.

Push through it. Don't worry too much about the weight part right now (but don't pig out on bad stuff either...get carrots and celery ;)). Adjust your long-term plan. If you used to walk outside to smoke, but now vape in a chair inside...put a daily walk into your routine. Stuff like that. Watch out for "the munchies".

Welcome to the quit club. Don't quit quitting! I'd much rather see someone gain a couple of pounds than smoke, IMHO. There's a lot of people that say "I smoke to keep my weight down." It's a bad thing. Better they were heavier but didn't smoke. Still better to watch weight and not smoke.

Good luck.

Congratulations on the good news - 21 days cigarette-free is fantastic! And yes, I gained five pounds in three months. For me it wasn't related to caloric intake, but water weight. I drank more water and it stuck around because of how the PG was affecting my body. I'm not a doctor so I don't know if it's "normal" or not, but I can tell you that things evened out for me after three months. And I was pretty bummed out about the weight gain too, but I told myself that I have enough to worry about with quitting smoking, I'll worry about the weight later. That was a good strategy for me, because I avoided all of that guilt and nonsense. I focused on the positives of making the change from cigarettes to vaping, and then after I was feeling comfortable with that change, I started to focus on the weight gain. And that's when the water retention / weight thing evened out for me anyway. So it's all good. Also, don't zip to the store to buy cigs. While quitting smoking may have caused your weight to go up, starting smoking won't send the scale in the other direction. It doesn't work like that. Believe me, I tried. I tried that a lot.

smoking analogs raises your metabolic rate. your body is trying to rid it self of the toxic chemicals as quick as it can. so when you stop smoking you might gain some weight. i know i did. but after about 6 months i stop gaining weight and 2 months after that i started to loose weight. i did diet and exercise a bit but it was not hard. i was just trying to be aware of what i was eating and making sure i got some sort of exercise in every day and i returned to my normal weight.
