And for what it's worth, I do think Limbaugh is a racist. As loathsome as I think that is, I'd still lobby him on e-cigarettes if I though he could help.

and most of the people who think Limbaugh is racist are the same people who have NEVER listened to his show once and only hear about him on abc,nbc, cbs or one of the other main stream media outlets, that like to play his sound bites out of context.

if you dislike limbaugh so much just take one listen to his show one day and see what it is you really hate so much that youve never heard.

i couldnt agree with you more.

but i got some local am conservative talk shows i really love to listen to, even one who fills in for Rush every once and a while Mark Belling.

But this former Surgeon General, Richard Carmona, was one of the reasons we started hearing so much about "second-hand smoke" and was instrumental in the first "indoor smoking bans". I don't know if he would be pro- or anti- electronic cigarettes, but he doesn't seem to be a big fan of Big tobacco.

I would love to have someone to write to that could really make a difference that could turn this around somehow ....if that person really exsisted and in all reality I dont think that person has been named yet in this thread.

The fix is in folks the tobacco bill is a scam it has nothing to do with getting people to quit or not start its all about getting smokers to smoke more. You watch the FDA is going to reduce nic levels and call it some sort of victory while 1 pack a day smokers start smoking two. Its all about the money the tax money on ciggs is going to fund S-chip and theres not enough so heres how there gonna get it. They dont give a crap about smokers...your addicted and your paying taxes on it while due to the economy tax revenues are falling everywhere else they need this money.

So whatever saves e-ciggs is gonna have to show the right people (and this isnt going to be one person its gonna have to be a bunch) that they can tax the crap outta this just like analogs and at the same time look good doing it because its gonna save lifes so someones governmental expansion wet dream check list can move forward. So its gonna take politicians in the current admin to throw big tabacco under the bus and there money to some extent ....however, big tobacco's now kinda screwed themselves with this because if the government isnt seeing the money they want they can sure call there buds over at the FDA and put the screws to em


So we need the politicians on our side that currently hold power ..though I cant stand any of them right now...and they need to see the money... how are they gonna make money off this?...and how does this make them look good in the publics eye?

remember theres a lot of lobbying power out there right now that will fight this tooth and nail aka big tobacco .....if you could get pelosi youd have a chance (I wont say what I truly think of this women)

Yes, refuse2, you're right, it's about making people smoke more...that's what most conservatives understand is going to happen. Some liberals have a different view of it, IMO, it's not about Democrats or Republicans, it's about attitutes and some notion that the whole population needs to be told what they're allowed to do and we gotta all watch out for the kids who of course need adult supervision, and parents are just not competent. So right now I expect that getting "someone important" to write letters for us Dummies out here may be a little premature and maybe a little naive. We can reach our own elected officials and let them in on our point of view, and sooner or later this PV thing may just take on a life of its own. I think there's been significant progress already.
And, in closing, I think this has all been discussed to death anyway, Amen. Has been very fun though!! And thanks to Fresca, Ms. Elder's name eluded me there! How could I forget her, she was a hoot!
