Not sure if this is the right place for this thread, but...

I was at the Las Vegas Vapefest and there had a bunch of workshops there.
One of the workshops was about the legal and political issues surrounding electronic cigarettes.

The lady giving the presentation worked for SFATA which apparently is a organization that does political lobbying for vendors.

She claimed that the White House petition was not going to be answered because we did not get 100,000 signatures.
She knew that when our petition started the requirement was 25,000 and that it was raised during the course of our petition.

So I noted that as far as I knew we were supposed to be grandfathered in at the 25,000 level.
But she said that the FDA has specifically indicated they are not going to answer the petition due to us not getting to 100,000 signatures.

The WH petition occurred before I joined ECF and got involved, so could some kind soul explain the history of the petition and the rule change (# of signers needed)? Is that 100,000 required for *any* petition to the WH before it'll be answered? TIA

Edit: Never mind! Checked the We the People page:

AS OF JANUARY 15, 2013:
To cross the first threshold and be searchable within WhiteHouse.gov, a petition must reach 150 signatures within 30 days.

To cross the second threshold and require a response, a petition must reach 100,000 signatures within 30 days.

After seven months, Obama still hasn’t responded to our Petition to White House to "Prevent the FDA from regulating or banning the sale and use of electronic cigarettes, accessories and associated liquids" signed by >25,000 e-cig users. https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/pe...igarettes-accessories-and-associated/RQLBYRsd

Instead of starting another petition, we need to expose how Obama still hasn't responded to our petition that was submitted 7 months ago.

According to the lady that works for SFATA the FDA is saying that we didn't get 100,000 signatures so they are not going to respond.

Go to the Petition...

the new standard may be 100k... but ours wasn't... its there in black and white:

SIGNATURES NEEDED BY FEBRUARY 13, 2013 TO REACH GOAL OF 25,0000 - 0

That said... we don't want the FDA to respond... they did that to our first petition... This petition was asking the president to step in against the FDA

Yeah, I know, that's why I posted this thread.

We have been wondering for nearly 8 months where our response is.
According to SFATA, the FDA has said they aren't going to.

I don't know if the FDA is full of it, or the lady from SFATA is full of it.
But there is someone, somewhere, that's full of it.

The past 19 months have opened my eyes to a lot!! Lets just say.... I CANT WAIT FOR 2016!!! yea I said it...and I really don't care if people give me crap about mentioning politics!!
The White House administration couldn't care less about rules and even laws.
As far as they are concerned ... its just another phoney scandal
to be swept under the carpet. Their rule is: If ya don't talk about it ...
It doesn't exist.

If you're frustrated about our government lying to us ...
from the White House all the way down
Read my signature.

What you're missing is: why would the FDA respond? or why would they even mention the possibility of their response?

It was not their petition to respond to. It's political eaves dropping at best.

A response from the FDA, would have been worse than no response IMHO.

It would be like calling 911 to report a home invasion and having the operator send more thieves, instead of police.

Are you familiar with the White House petition website and the guidelines of petitions submitted there?
Are you familiar with our previous petition, and the response we got from the FDA on that one?

I ask because I'm not clear on what you mean in your post above.
And I'm not sure if you are making a valid point, or are just unclear about the circumstances of the petition.

Can you clarify?
