Here is my shined Xhaler. It was a flawless mirror polish, but it went with me in my pocket for Thanksgiving with a bunch of loose change so I'll need to run some steel wool over it. You get the idea though.

The astute will notice that I've taken a KR carto, removed the sticker, and shined off the paint and put a 901 endcap on the carto. It's connected to a cartomizer adapter I got from Drew that I also removed the paint from, and shined up.

NOTE: Removing the vinyl from your XHaler is something stupid pirates do, and is not recommended. The vinyl is there for your safety.

I'm actually considering getting the finish perfect again, then coating it with clearcoat. Not only for the increased short protection, but to protect the shiny. : )

I think just because he can. Hey Zofryer, aren't you the person who turned down the copper to a real nice shape some time ago?

Yeah, I connected my copper to the end of a dremel, and spun it in sandpaper after I knocked the corners off the hex nuts with a file. Muldrick liked the end result so much he started selling the "rounded coppper".

Why did you take the vinyl off? Did it start to come loose? Mine is painted so I've never seen one of the vinyl coated ones but I notice several people have taken the vinyl off.

Originally because I was going to get some engraving done. Now I'm not sure. I dig the bare shiny look. I'm probably just going to do a final mirror shine with a powder wheel, and put clearcoat on the body.

Looks very nice. I'm not electrically inclined, but I think I remember someone saying the vinyl acts as an insulator, that theoretically a coin in your pocket could touch the button and the body and burn out your atty. might not be a great idea to have it in your pocket with a bunch of change til you get the clear coat on, but I'm not sure.

I got into the habit of removing atomizers before I pocket mods. I do it with this one. No atomizer means it can't get set off.

How long did it take to get a mirror like finish? What polish did you use? Any suggestions on methods to apply said polish?

The threads on the cheapy red chinese dremel copy they have at Target for 20 bucks is identical to 901 threads. So, I took a dead 901 atomizer, and a connector from a second dead atomizer and glued it in the top and made a "dremel adapter". I connect that to the dremel copy, and connect the mod to the other end after removing the button. Then I spin the entire mod in 220 grit sandpaper followed by 320, then three kinds of steel wool. I do a final buff with a cotton cloth and some toothpaste.
