I am going to be a bit cynical here and say yes BENADRYL it's like harmless for most pets also WHY must dogs be professionally groomed anyway?
I would take my special dog grooming shears, and I would groom my dog as I saw fit and perhaps it wouldn't be French poodle worthy, but WHO CARES? IF I was unfortunate enough to own a dog that NEEDED grooming I would NOT CARE what others thought of my grooming skills, as long as the dog could see and move around--- good enough for me.
Despite may people who pretend animals have human traits to the contrary, dogs aren't like really noticing human scorn particularly. Squirrels, yes. Human scorn, no.
As for me, if anyone said anything I would tell it the Human Vessel of Scorn it was Dogcember, and I was donating my grooming money to Pets in Need and they should consider it, the smarmy ....s.. It would, perhaps, be completely UNTRUE, but like IF I could START a movement without actually PARTICIPATING it,.....
ONE of my largest life goals would be complete.

I have tried to groom him before with some pet grooming kit and failed miserably. He was fighting the whole time and they wouldn’t even go through his Matted hair properly. I could go try to find some good ones and dope him up a bit I guess. I don’t want anything fancy just shaved right down to where you see skin all over. I would have a hard time doing the face as well and would probably have a dog shaved down with a hairy matted face afterwards.
It’s just my mom has been guilt tripping me and making me feel like a cheap jerk who wants to kill My dog when I mention giving him something and either trying to cut him myself or taking him for a shear.
It really makes me mad because I’m the one paying for it and she just says nope no one is giving my dog drugs without medical supervision ! He deserves better! All of a sudden he’s her dog but I’m the one who pays for his food and walks him plus pays for any vet bills. So it’s easy for her to say that.
She’s the queen of guilt trips. I finally had to put my foot down today and say this is ridiculous I can’t do 400 each hair cut. I didn’t say I’m the one paying for it because then she would go off about how she looked after two kids as a single parent for years and if she had a job she would pay the 400 in a heartbeat.
Best we can figure out, she has a yeast overgrowth. It’s not her food, labs are all normal. Her previous owner passed, then she was alone in the house for two months before she was left with our vet to be rehomed. So, we have no idea if it’s a result of the neglect (she was so matted the vet had to shave her) or she’s always had a skin problem. Poor girl gets flaky and greasy looking (not feeling). An expensive antibiotic shot made it better temporarily, but the blood work and skin scraping samples showed no infection or fungus. She’s the sweetest old girl. I wish I could fix it, but it doesn’t seem to bother her.

on the phone the vets asked what kind of rabbit he was and how old etc. I was just like uh well he’s grey fluffy with ears that point up and he’s quite big with a cute chubby face. Then I said wel I’ve known him for Mabye 6 months and he seems quite peppy and full of energy he can’t be that old .
They were just like uh huh okay then. Haha I said he’s a lumber yard bunny i rescued.
These rabbits arnt scared of all the chainsawing drilling and hammering I’ve been doing outside they are tough from living in a lumber yard their whole lives. They are happy to have a loving home though.
I tell them so many people love them and have come through to help them out. From all over the world. Famous bunnies.

Yes, they can bite - as any animal can bit, either domesticated or wild.
Luckily, koalas have never been hunted by man so have not built up a fear toward humans.
The koalas being rescued are usually very docile - it is as though they know that humans are going to help them.
The koalas kept in sanctuaries are looked after very well and are often petted and held by the public who visit. I have one a couple of kilometres from my place called the Daisy Hill Koala Centre. It is wonderful place to visit and to learn about all things koalas and to have a cuddle. And it is free to visit!

Well I'm sure glad we're experiencing a bit of a heat wave right now, because our furnace quit working yesterday. They came to do a temporary fix until they can get the new part Monday, but it messed up again overnight and they say there's nothing they can do until they get the new part. So no heat today, but it's only 16 degrees right now, heading up a high of 40 then dropping to 28 tonight. Three nights ago it was -17 with a wind chill of -31, so man, am I glad this didn't happen then...

Ricky use scissors and cut off the mats. I would not take a shaver/grooming tool to a dog with mats. Use scissors, Benadryl and tiny cut up bits of hot dogs while you cut. Or a muzzle and no hot dogs
Remember the line you are supposed to give at this time "Mom I will no longer allow you to guilt me, you chose to have kids and with that choice came your duty to provide"
and then tell her you 100% support her paying it but you will not.
I will mind my business after this but I think along with your newfound bunny homing hobby you should start on a new course of NOT enabling mom anymore. I can see it causes you grief (as it would anyone) the cure is to start moving her away from feeling like she can expect. Gentle but firm.

Might try an allergy shot, my Em's skin is that way and the shot helps if I only get it once or twice a year. Doesn't work at all if I get them more often.
It’s funny I got bugs the last blue dish for food in stock and sassy the last pink one. Every time I look and they are eating at the same time Bugs the boy is using the blue one and sassy is using the pink one.

She can be. I think there’s reasons why people are the way they are though. She is extremely generous but too much when she gets money. She has gotten a 30 grand inheritance before when her dad died and blew it all in a matter of a few days buying people stuff and whatnot. She had gotten a credit card before and done the same thing. I told her to save some for a rainy day but nope she doesn’t. Then she’s broke again and actually needs money for something big and has to ask me again . She never seems to learn
How old is your mom and if she's impaired enough, she can be assessed for the need for a guardian (you call Adult Protective Services.)

Very simple answer ... the majority of people are not competent enough. Most non-pro grooming jobs end up looking like sh*t. My wife was a professional groomer and had her own business with several groomers. She was booked out for over 1/2 a year. It's amazing how many stupid people came in with very matted cats/dogs. Simple brushing would have saved them a couple hundred, easily. But people are lazy. Or they would come in with nails that should have been cut a long time ago. Gotta have their pets though.
My point is I don't care what my dog looks like, (my fictional dog) as long as it is comfortable and it can see.
I guess the whole "grooming" thing compensates for the whole "shedding thing" and I know poodles are like hypoallergenic for some kids or whatnot, but thank God the kid was NOT allergic to dogs. Because I am never having a poodle in my house . Snotty does not even begin to describe them. Yeah, they're smart and I am sure LOVEABLE but to me the way they just prance around all snotty to begin with is just ANNOYING.
Gimme my son's mutt anytime. I think she sheds a metric pound a minute you kinda have to vacuum every day, but she is THE BOMB.
IDK but I am fairly certain I could brush and groom a dog competently enough for it to survive without being neglected. I mean, I raised a small child and now he is 22.
LOL one time he got lice (at the ex's house.) It was super traumatic because we'd get it cleared up, tell the ex to clean, and then he'd come back with lice again. So like, by time number 4 his head was so irritated and inflamed we shaved it. I also called the ex and told him to bring me an exterminator's certificate the house was lice free before the kid went there again. I was pretty annoyed by then.
But the kid got traumatized and would allow no one to cut his hair but HIMSELF. He had this is very jagged like, uneven Prince Valiant thing going on for a while. I was FINE with it, personally.. I was just like, "Well this is what the kid needs right now, so he needs it." I really did not care ONE whit about "what other people thought." The kid needed it and that was what I cared about. If someone was judging me on my son's haircut, well, GO THEM. If anyone ever said anything, I would have told them to get a life.
