Ricky, I'd really give some benadryl and a muzzle a shot to manage Toby. After a few times he should get sorta used to it, and if you have your own shears and simply keep him short you can save yourself a bunch of money. I've only used a professional groomer for my American Eskimo because it was dealing with an outer and undercoat which I didn't have the skill for to maintain the right shape. My Pomeranian was fine if I did a puppy cut with the loin mane thing, but she got an occasional professional grooming as well.
My lab, well, if I pointed at the bathroom she just went and hopped in the tub and waited for me. Then again, she kinda knew what was coming as she'd probably just rolled all over something that was dead.
