Ty again for the link to the non slip dog booties. Monk’s will be here Friday :).
Himself has begged me to wait til he gets home to video the attempt to get them on, and the post wrestle first “test walk”. I’m in no mood to be an internet sensation/entertainment for the masses....but I will report back. If I survive getting them on. I have a feeling it’s going to be about like shoeing a wild mustang
there is nothing more hilarious, then watching your dog do the high step trying to get used to socks or shoes on their feet.
OK maybe putting a leash on a cat and watching them flop and slither on the floor might be just as fun. Wait OK. putting peanut butter on the tip of your dogs nose just out of reach might be as fun

He is a hoot. Loads of personality but I think he has been kicked around a bit. He will swat and hiss at you in a heartbeat if he does not like what you are doing. Giving him his medication yesterday was no fun. Tight scruff and wedge the syringe in his mouth between his canine teeth. Watch the yellow foam come out if I went too fast
He has one wrinkled up ear that is pretty stiff. In my experience this happens with ear infections. His ears are clean though and no mites. He does not like having them cleaned
I am also wiping him down with hypo allergenic baby wipes because I have yet to see him groom himself and he is kind of gritty, no shiny coat. I am also brushing him daily
He will find the right human to adopt - his looks and personality are just awesome

Tyvek is the material that used to be (is it still?) used in USPS priority mail envelopes. I guess the volume of the material orders makes the price per item much lower for the manufacturer. Used to get those mailers for free...
I don’t think so tyvek is commercial building wrap. Gets stapled to the plywood after a house is framed. Just like a temporary protective barrier I believe. It’s like paper when you feel it. Tyvek is white for commercial use and Typar is grey/black and is used for the sides of residential houses before the siding is done.

I think the stuff your thinking of on lumber wrap is just the tarp material I highly doubt a mill would use tyvek on every pack but sometimes I’ll see it covering expensive material then will have another lumber tarp over top of it. I was feeling a roll of tyvek I found today that was partly used someone must’ve returned and it is like paper. I think a more plastic tarp like material would work better.

I’m gonna return it and get another one. My work said it’s okay. It just sucks I spent so much time putting it up and putting tarps on the sides to make it all enclosed again. Threw the other one out too that was held up by 2 by 3s as you seen from the photo where the frame was upside down. It’s been raining so hard lately just 40-60 centimetres a day non stop and isn’t letting up for at least another week. I have to work outside in it all day so messing around out back with a another canopy isn’t going to be fun. My rabbits gotta stay dry though! Their all I got!

Here is bugs and sassy tonight while I cleaned their cage out. I figured I’ll keep them in here since Bugs is having surgery and shouldn’t be trying to go up ramps and through tunnels and just recovering with his wife. It’s nice having this cage in the big house.

Bugs is the one hiding his face in sassy haha sassy looks after him. The broom and dust pan scared him . Such a tough man. ;)

Okay, I thought it looked like Tyvek and would be an abundant free source. :( But really, any cheap plastic sheeting should work and get you through to summer. Didn't mean to send you on a major hunt, I'm really sorry. If you can't find some free stuff, look for Visqueen in a small quantity. It's just a brand name for plastic sheeting. Something like this https://www.amazon.com/TRM-Manufact...squeen+plastic+sheeting&qid=1580365475&sr=8-9 but there's got to be something around that lumber yard you can use.

And with that link, I'm not familiar with how thick 3.5 mil is is but it's probably okay. Maybe even duct tape sturdy garbage can bags?

Actually, if you PM me your address, I'll see if Amazon will let me send it to you.

And now I see you're going to return the canopy, glad they will let you. Hope the next one really is rainproof.

Archie kind of reminds me of Ivan.
In 2010, my friend Mandie talked me into joining a small group she called "No Kill Paulding" (Paulding is my county here in Georgia) We had 8 members. We wanted our county to follow Nathan Winograd's 10 steps to a NO Kill nation. IN order to do this we had to convince commissioners to change ordinances. We spoke at the monthly commissioners meetings armed with data and video's. They hated us. We found fosters and got acquainted with Rescues. I agreed to have someone bring me my first rescue cat. I did not chose, just said bring me someone. I got a cage ready in the garage.
Late that night my friend Mandie comes with this huge gray cat, matted everywhere, he drooled all over himself constantly, both ears were bloody on the outside, bloody, scabbed and crusty. Loaded with ear mites on the inside. Boy did he stink. And he was not nice. He would hiss every time I came near him. I put him in the cage in the garage with food and water. I felt sort of like I had a monster down there, I would peek around the corner at him. He would be sitting there drooling, all hunched over. He weighed 19 lbs and was not fat just huge.
I started with the ear mites and fleas. I noticed that even though he hissed he did not mind being touched. I put baggies on my hands and rubbed Neosporin on his crusty ears. Ear mite medicine inside in his ears. Flea medicine too. Once I got him used to me enough to put in a carrier I took him to the vet. He had a bad tooth, hence the drooling. The vet removed it. Little by little Ivan was getting better and feeling better. Now he was starting to be happy to see me. He would be standing up,, tailed raised in happy cat salute. I brushed him daily, sometimes twice a day. He loved it. Since there was no way to bathe him I wiped him down with baby wipes. Once section at a time. Took a week to get him clean. Sometime during this he was taken to get neutered and got the FELV test and was diagnosed Leukemia positive. This meant he could not go to a usual adoption fair. Ivan could only go to Felv home (no other cats or only cats with same disease) or a sanctuary.
I brought him upstairs into my home and would sleep in the same room with him. He would walk up and down next to my body all night rubbing against me and purring. Finally he would fall asleep and I would not want to move because if I did he would be up again head butting me.
Ivan eventually went off to Suzys Zoo sanctuary to live out the rest of his life. I took him to meet a transport and cried the whole way. I was devastated when he left but knew it had to be. First pic is him in my car the day he left. Second pic is one they sent me from Suzys after he got there. All of the above is what lead me to know I could help Archie or any of the other discarded, homeless cats that have came my way.

They do have a stretchy Velcro strap at the top. Though if they have a slim foot that wouldn't prevent it from coming off. I have yet to see one dog think about yanking it off. Just a lot of high stepping and foot wiggling.

I'm surprised. I would've thought they'd be ripping them off instantly.*

And I feel sorry for all those dogs being laughed at, even though I understand the laughter. Dogs get embarrassed so easily.

    * I bet Georgia would.

Most dogs DO get embarrassed easily. You can just THINK shame thoughts at them and they get "That look."

It is actually one of my favorite things about dogs, and yeah well y'all know I am no dog person.

Of course there are times you want to console them when they have cones on or something and they can't lick their ...., and it sucks clearly but it's also like "WHAT have I DONE?"

The .... licking part is another reason I am not a SUPREME dog fan. Although if humans could, I bet some of them would. In private one would hope.

I can't believe I just wrote this and this is where I ended up. Oh well, coffee almost gone bathing time in so SOON. Sorry y'all. LOL

Thanks all but I am only this kind with furry creatures that need me.
It is also the reason I am husband less because the second one said "me or the animals you drag home" and you see which choice I made.

I prefer animals over people any day. Exceptions are my online vape family and my actual family

BTW: every morning I wake up, pet Luna and go to the bathroom I then start making coffee and rescue Luna's toy mouse from her food bowl, and her pink hairtye from her water bowl.

Every morning they end up back in there ;)

@NolaMel I think I missed the start of the conversation about your critter having problems with his feet slipping on the floors, but I can offer a temporary trick that might help with indoor traction. If you DIY your own juice, you probably have the supplies on hand.

When I worked in the printing plant, we did a lot of hand collating of books. To make our fingers sticky, we dumped a tablespoon or so of glycerine onto a sponge and then mixed in some tap water to make a version of a "sort-kwik" pad. We kept these in little tart tins or similar small dishes to moisten our fingers enough to pull paper, but not so much that it left wet fingerprints on the pages.

I had an elderly cat that was losing control of her back legs, and tried dunking her toe beans in one of these glycerine sponges. It made her feet just sticky enough to be able to walk on the floor without slipping. It wasn't permanent, and had to be re-applied, but it was helpful for a while. She didn't live a lot longer after that, but it did help her get around before the cancer got her.

I wouldn’t have thought of that! I do have some glycerin. Would certainly work in a pinch when he gets stuck down on the hardwood. Between him being 115 lbs, and my bad back, I can’t get him up even with a lift strap. Our current method is my scooting him until he can get his front paws on the kitchen tiles or a rug. It’s quite a sight
