You weren't imagining that; along with all the other specifications ignored by the machine shop, the tubes were bored too narrow. The fix is to roll your batteries (think of them as rolls of bread dough), which will narrow their diameters just a touch.
I think they said that issue was fixed also...

So did I read somewhere that the batteries may not fit in the Infinity

The protection circuit they put on batteries are not aligned all that good but as Passerbyeus said that issue has been remedied.

Cigarbabe, the tube part has been re-bored to the proper size for the batteries now so shouldn't be a problem.
