I just obtained the 2.8 carts and mine does not work. I sent a email for a fix. Please. I must have bad luck. I was hoping these new carts would work on it. However, nada nothing. I hear great stories. I would love to be one of those folks...

I should have read on. That's great amigo.. No more problem. That just makes it doubly good and for the same price.

It was an emotional rollercoaster. I went from "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!" to WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" in a matter of around an hour.
And now, I am settled on "AHHHHHHHHHHH........"

(been running 8 hours so far of moderate use on one set of batts; think I will stay with > 3 ohm cartos, they work well on this)

The positive terminal of the top battery wasn't quite making contact. It was fixed with a couple of firm taps. Easy peasy.
I vote it was "charge the batteries"
I'm not quite that lame.
Mine did that on the bottom battery. It looked like it was in but I shook it and it had too much rattle so I switched them around and then I found it. I took my pliers and squeezed the protection circuit over and it worked great.
