When you see shipping go down radically (or become free), it's an indicator of over-paying.
We do free shipping on my site too. I just raised all the prices 15-25% and then offered free shipping. The perception is that you're "getting a deal" when the reality is that you're going to pay for that shipping one way or the other.
alien concept: Business is in business to provide a service in exchange for little green pieces of paper (outside the US other colorations may apply). If the cost-of-money is more than the wholesale-cost-of-service, the business goes away and no service gets provided. The ultimate retail price is back-ended to meet the necessary margin. That includes shipping. V4L is just being transparent about what the fulfillment costs are.
