When you see shipping go down radically (or become free), it's an indicator of over-paying.

We do free shipping on my site too. I just raised all the prices 15-25% and then offered free shipping. The perception is that you're "getting a deal" when the reality is that you're going to pay for that shipping one way or the other. alien concept: Business is in business to provide a service in exchange for little green pieces of paper (outside the US other colorations may apply). If the cost-of-money is more than the wholesale-cost-of-service, the business goes away and no service gets provided. The ultimate retail price is back-ended to meet the necessary margin. That includes shipping. V4L is just being transparent about what the fulfillment costs are. TANSTAAFL.

The 2 options have always been:

1. Put it in notes, and you'll get it on your next order.

2. If you aren't planning on ordering in the short term, we'll send it out right away.

Always how I understood it. Sometimes communication isn't the best, given a text based environment, but I haven't heard one person denied.

I assume when I'm told by any company that they'll replace it on my next shipment the company is trying to save the cost of shipping out just a replacement part. Not too bad of a thing in my eyes and generally acceptable to me. What bugs me is when I have no choice but to pay shipping for just that item. I've even had times when I offered to purchase some other things if they would then just add the replacement to that order and I was turned down. Now that angers me. What V4L does seems typical of a small company keeping an eye on costs which doesn't bug me.
