Ok, so, I just started using kr808s yesterday. I burned my first one up within less than 24 hours because I filled it with a strong menthol and therefore couldn't quite tell that it was getting dry and yeah...anyways! Ok, so my second one is shocking me on my tongue even though my tongue is like an inch away from it:shock:! Anybody else have this problem? It obviously doesn't hurt (it's only 3.7 volts on my mod, and the mod is NOT shorting and IS using protected batteries). Do I have to worry that the cartomizer is gonna break in a painful way (blow up or anything?). I'm certainly not new to e-cigs (1 year vaper here) but have NEVER been shocked by an atomizer before. 8-o

Um...scary! I'm new ... but I have never experienced that. I do recall reading about an exploding cart and broken jaw a looonnnng time ago and don't know what model PV or Cart it was? I can try searching for it. If it was me I WOULD NOT use that cart. If it's a V4L cart ~ send it back for inspection and replacement!

I believe it was the PV mod that blew up, not specifically the cart. The person was using what he/she thought was a lifepro battery but was in fact an unprotected cr2 with a false label? I could be wrong, I did see it briefly on the forums though. Scary crap man!

I don't know if a carto is capable of blowing up, but I would sure like to know before I become a new statistic! :/

Yes your much too pretty to become a statistic of some crazy malfunctioning cart mix-up! Just say NO! LOL...I'll gladly send you one of my carts if you need one. :)

Ok...I am in NO WAY mechanically inclined, but I just can't figure out how a cart would be able to cause a shock to your tongue, and the thought crossed my mind are you using an adapter for the cart to fit whatever style mod your using? I'm not sure if you have the KR8 battery as well (if so disregard) but if using an adapter...maybe the adapter is somehow related to the the shock?

I Am using an adapter...it's how I made the atty connector...i'm using a 10440p battery and a switch in a box, that is all. I was thinking, maybe since the coil is so close to the mouth, a fine mist (before vaporization) might carry a charge through the mouthpiece hole...who knows. I'm on a carpeted floor sitting in a chair at my computer.

Marymarcelle, love the froggy!

You are having some strange experiences with your first cartomizers. I am wondering if you somehow got a bad batch of carts. I have a 510 manual battery with an adapter and a kr808 auto battery. Both work great and for me the cartomizer is the way to go. I have been using carts for only a little more than a month and I have yet to experience what you are going through. I hope this does not ruin your impression of the carts.

Marymarcelle, love the froggy!

Thanks! It's a Panamanian golden frog ~ Atolepus zeteki it is unfortunately critically endangered  I love yellow and I love frogs so I thought I'd use this pic that I found (I didn't take the picture)

As far as the shocks go ~ You lost me as soon as you said 10440p battery ~ too technical for me!

There seem to be some pretty intelligent and very mechanically inclined men and women in here that have extensive knowledge in that technical stuff so I hope one of them finds this thread and is able to offer some better help! (In my opinion though, your already included in that list because you know what a 10440p battery is!)

My mod is grounded by me...? LOL. The negative is touching the outside of the connector, the positive the inside contact...
The cartos are metal right? Is there any metal exposed on the edges at all, or are you using a tip? Do tips fit on them? Sorry for all the questions, I haven't used any cartos yet... still waiting for mine to arrive.

Maybe if a tip or 'condom' as they call them can be fitted on the end.. perhaps try that to see if that eliminates the shocking. If it does, then it could be that the carto is acting as a conductor and is transferring that current to your mouth and shocking you.

Just a stab in the dark here... :)

There has been a couple of times when I filled carto's really full that I had tiny drops of hot liquid hit my tongue that kinda felt like a faint pin ....., it could be possible that this is what you felt.

I was also wondering if could have been a bit of hot liquid that "shocked" you? This does happen on occasion. I thought it was a shock the first time it happened. However, I did read of one person who said they were shocked by a cartomizer that was on a PT. If I find the post I'll try to add a link.

If you made your mod so that the button "switches" the ground side of the battery (the connection to the outer ring of the cartomizer)... and your mod also has some grounded metal exposed on the body of the mod... then you can and will get a shock when using a cartomizer.

The button should always "switch" the center contact of the cartomizer, and the body of the mod should be "hard wired" to the outer contact (ring) of the carto adapter.

P.S. We've seen this happen before.....
