My wotofo freakshow tiny came in the mail today.

Plugged in my UD zephyrus v2 tank with standard UD occ 0.3ohms kanthal coils and the mod box refuses to fire up, giving me a short error message.

The UD tank works on my snow wolf mini. Resistance on the SW mini reads 0.32ohms (which is about right) but reads 0.1ohms on the Wotofo, so the tank and coil head is good.

I tried adjusting the 510 screw, tried not to screw the tank on too tight, tried connecting a different completely new UD Zephyrus tank with the same coils to no avail. The box just refuses to fire up and gives a short message each time. Also made sure it was manually set to watt mode and NOT tc.

The wotofo box, without anything connected, gives a no atomizer message when I try to fire it up so I don't think it's a battery connection issue.

Did I receive a bad unit or am I missing something?

TIA

If it is a spring loaded 510 try ever so gently to take a small flat head and pry it up a bit....it could be stuck thus giving you your error message. I had this happen on my 510 tab and had to do this. if it is a fixed 510 setting within the mod then it is possible that your zephyrus tank 510 just isnt long enough for your mod. Which would suck but nature of some beasts. I would try to use different attys on it to make sure that it isnt just your zephyrus tank with the issue. Because if it is just the zeph tank then either A) my trick will work....or B) our worst case scenario is the culprit.

According to the specs of the atty you have it is a brass manual adjustable 510 pin so you will need to screw it out with a small flat head counter-clockwise to attempt to make connection with your zeph tank. I am no doubt certain this is the case because looking at the mod the 510 dock appears to be extremely deep. So im guess that your tank is barely making a connection thus causing the short.

Thanks for the response. You are right that the wotofo is NOT spring loaded but manual adjustable.

I did try adjusting the screw to make the dock less deep i.e.: trying to make contact with the tank. Actually to a point that there was a pretty noticeable gap between the tank and mod 2-3mm when the tank was fully fastened in. But the damn thing still gave me a short error.

Also wouldn't the mod just give me a no atomizer message if the tank wasn't making connection with it?

Well the only reason i ask because perhaps the chipset is reading the .3 ohm coil lower than .3.... Looking for a manual online i didnt see a error message that says low ohms. So maybe it defaults to short if the ohms are too low. IF you had an atty or a coil with a slightly higher resistance rather than right at the freakshow tiny's minimum we could rule out that being the case and then move directly to you having a faulty mod.

You beat me to it :)

I do have the RBA for the zephyrus but since this is my 2nd mod box (first was only purchased 4 days ago) and I don't have any experience with building my own coils (nor the material) I prob won't be able to test it right away.

I'll have to swing by my local vape shop and grab a set of either temp control UD standard coils or 0.5 kanthal coils.

Thanks alot for your help though. I think this might be it.

Well i was going to say that you dont need a ton of experience to try and get a read on whether its the coil or not...Got one of your .3 coils the wire is 26ga. Take the little blue screw driver you got and make 6 full rotations around it and just insert the wires in the screws you dont need anything pretty or cotton or anything....just the wire to be on the rba to have a higher resistance than .3.....just put the base of the atty on the mod with the rba coil in it and see if it fires. If it does then your mod is good to go...if it doesnt then your mod is faulty.
