Should I be worried?

I purchased an eLeaf iStick 50w with an Aspire Atlantis tank. When I put the tank on the iStick, it reads 0.6 ohms. When I take a hit, the ohms will change resulting in a voltage change automatically. For example: I can have it set to 25w and 4.0 volts with a 0.6 resistance. I take one hit - and the resistance will jump to 1.0 causing the voltage to leap to 5.1 volts. I can't get a steady resistance from this tank - but it works perfectly on my Aspire CF mod. If I use a Kanger Protank Mini on the iStick, the resistance stays steady at 1.8 like it should.

Is it bad to vape it at such a high voltage? It's very irritating having to manually set my voltage after EVERY hit. So at this point, I hit it anyway. Is this bad?

And shouldn't the voltage go DOWN when my resistance raises? I don't understand why it would push more volts to a 1.0 than a 0.6. I feel like I'm just going to burn thru my coils in no time thanks to this issue.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Press the fire button three times :img:

That switches it to volts instead of watts, and it won't jump around. If you get a drastic change in the vape from one hit to another, that would indicate a fault in the coil/atomizer. (real change in resistance)

Right now the voltage is going up to maintain the same wattage at a higher resistance.

^^^ That's exactly right, you're in wattage mode, if you want steady voltage flip it over to voltage mode.

Generally if your resistance is jumping around you've got a loose 510 pin or are not making a good connection between the atty and the mod, so check the pin for tightness on the atty and that the pin is popping all of the back out on the iStick.

Thank you all for the replies. TJ, I do get different hits every time - so like you said there must be an actual fault in my coil or atomizer. It works fine on the CF Mod, so I guess I have some sort of issue with this particular tank and this particular box mod.

I switched to VV mode and it is indeed staying steady, now the wattage is changing after hit which isn't quite as annoying because I'm not getting such hot, airy pulls.

    Thanks again guys!

Nah, it's not that big of a deal.

You might want to try opening up your tank and seeing if you can screw the head down any further. If they aren't fully in there, that'd be a reason for the resistance to jump around. Additionally, try cleaning off your contacts (the one on the tank and on the iStick). If [somehow] metal shavings or something got in your 510 connection, that'd add to the resistance (though it'd probably be more consistent).

I've experienced the "changing while you vape"-thing with my IPV3. I upgraded to the 165W firmware but very quickly reverted because I found out that, with the 165W firmware, it is actively reading resistance, so if your 1.3 coil jumps to 1.4 or 1.2 for some reason, the wattage will change to pull the same voltage. This got really annoying and resulted in VERY inconsistent hits.
