Nothing should be so tight as to smash batteries. You're lucky that alone didn't cause a dead short. Make sure the cause gets corrected as that's the main problem.

Personally I wouldn't take the chance. I would figure out what smashed them, make sure it doesn't happen anymore, and get rid of those batteries. It's not worth the risk.

oh geez. I did not realize these are flat top. so stupid my bad. I thought they were button top and I smashed them. they are not dented at all. the metal post is about flush with the black plastic inside the top of the green casing. does that sound right? ill try to get a pic. also the green is discolored but I read all over they do that. I just thought I smashed a button down. it probably was always at that height.

thanks guys.

okay, I look at this close-up and these are done, right? I count myself lucky then. I had not actually realized this since my eyes are bad but with the zoom this looks bad. I really appreciate everyone's concern in this matter.

omg. with the zoom I see the negative cap is bulging! I could not see this with my naked eyes. wow I am lucky today. I will bring them to recycle in the morning. unfortunately have 18 like this. do the vtc5 do this? or I was too rough. can't get them now and I was told it is the best battery.

can I get: SubOhmCell 18650 Battery featuring:
-True 35 amp continuous
-INR Chemistry
-2800 MAH

very limited to what I can get since I need new batteries tomorrow. it says it is actually a Samsung cell.

I really appreciate the concern and help. thank you guys.

Errr.... re-wrapped samies?? Sounds like you replied to Nigerian prince email....lol No wonder the green wrapper was so dark. Sony VTC green wrapper is lighter/plain shade of green.

35a and 2800 dont exist ... just yet. Perhaps in few years.

If you using regulated mod, then get VTC4 or Samsung 25r.

thanks guys. I guess I cannot get it if it is not a proper label brand name. this rewrapped misstated amp business looks shady. yeah, prince email lol. I honestly had a very hard time adjusting my king and caravella both authentic. I know it was my lack of skill or patience and not those mods. anyways I smashed 'em to bits and used them for a year after that. shameful but very lucky no boom. that already happened with a 4 battery salute in a failed nitecore bah. these things really pack a wallop when they go. would prefer not in my face. so that's it I get sony, pana, sam I guess. will have to hit battery store instead of overpriced ecig shop anyways. they do not relabel batteries of course. I am only using regulated mods so trust me I wlll not destroy them again. I guess I am really lucky. those babies were ready to pop. I even just put them outside. what took me that long duh.

I am really glad you guys steered me right. this subject is no joke unfortunately.

Chipotle.
To be entirely honest, from the provided picture that positive pole itself looks fine. What looks damaged is the top most portion of the battery wrapper and the black insulator disk. The VTC positive poles SHOULD be flat, when you over-tighten them they become dished and dent inward, I have several batteries I have thrown out because of that but it does NOT look like what is going on with the pictured battery.

Question, do you remove the batteries from your charger by using your fingernail to grasp the top edge? That's what that damage looks like to me(I've done it), or do you have a mod that interferes with that area of the battery?

Edit: If you're curious before you throw it out take the wrapper off it and do a proper inspection. These wrappers are pretty cheap and not as thick as they could be so they can become damaged quite easily, which is why replacement shrink-wrap is available. It is entirely possible that the batteries are completely fine other than the wrapper, everyone around here freaks out over batteries like they're IED's or something...

yes, I do use my fingernail! I also have long nails, hippie. what would I rewrap it in then? I cherish these because they are great and so hard to find. how do I tell if there is further damage? this would be ideal. my vape budget is negative. that is great that you picked up on that.

otherwise: I trust you guys but can you look at this. is it bs? "in our tests these outperform sony vtc5 cells".
Subohmcell 18650 35amp 2800 mAh Battery - Kidney Puncher
this is what I was looking to get tomorrow if I need them. I know the ratings are not true but is this risky? I read they are everywhere by now.

edit: I hope it was okay to post that link. I just wanted to show the product for reference. never ordered from them.

To some extant i would agree with you. BUT.

Green wrapper is too dark then what Sony wrapper uses and its clear indication when cameras flash is used to take a pic. With flash, green color on VTC batteries should be washed out, especially when OP had the batteries for more then a year. Mother nature is great at oxidation combined with UV rays.

The green and black plastic is too conkeyved(sp) around positive post, unless OP has bear claws for finger nails as he removed the batteries from charger and the mod.

.
.

pic example of green vtc batteries using flash.

hqdefault.jpg

Google image Sony VTC and none of them have such a dark shade of green wrapper.

OP batteries are pine dark green. And IF OP abused the batteries by constantly over heating them, the green wrapper would be much lighter in color.

Further more, the top positive metal on the battery has extensive metal wear and in the center, there is an indentation dead center, similar to what you would see from a firing pin hitting a primer, or a screw that was forced in to the battery.

My 2 month old Samy 25r have zero wear on the both sides of the metal contacts.

no it is my camera. which has been the subject of debate before. mine are in fact the color of that pile you posted. there is a black plastic washer around the positive post that is in pieces. do not know if I need if I re heat shrink it. the negative is not bulging in fact I was looking at that side were I tore it up. I basically do have bear claws. I took off the wrapper and I see no physical damage to the tube of the battery. the positive post is actually not crushed as I thought. the trashed wrapper made it appear that way. I honestly think these are alright now that it was mentioned. I can open an envelope with my finger nails. I hope I am right but I am pretty sure I am.

also those fancy batteries I posted are inr. shame on them. fancy batteries should be imr. especially if you are already making up specs.
