No, it's not like smoking a tobacco cigarette, but the ritual and the inhalation of vapor into one's lungs, well, it's close enough for many of us that we can reduce or eliminate tobacco cigarettes.
If you asked me before I started vaping if I liked the taste of my cigarettes, I would have told you, "Of course, I do." Well, after several days of vaping with no tobacco, I lit a tobacco cigarette. Oh. my. God. I simply could not believe how nasty it tasted. Truth is, the taste of tobacco isn't really that great . . . really, to be perfectly blunt, it tastes pretty terrible. But we're so used to it and the good feeling that it gives us, that we just kind of convince ourselves that it tastes good.
With vaping, I've found that I'm enjoying all sorts of different flavors. I started off with tobacco-like flavors, and they were okay (but definitely not even close to a true replica of "real" tobacco in my mind). What shocked me is how much I enjoy some pretty strange flavors . . . coffee, peach cobbler, and strawberry immediately come to mind.
As for whether it's safe, there simply haven't been enough tests done to truly pronounce it as safe. But common sense tells me that it's got to be safer than smoking the 4000+ chemicals contained in tobacco. Also, after only a month of being tobacco-free, I've noticed that my cough is gone, my sinuses are clearer, and I can actually take deep breaths. I'm a former 2+ pack a day smoker (30 years), and in one short month, I already feel so much better.
Also, I've been gradually reducing the strength of my e-liquid. Today, I mostly vaped 0 nicotine juice with a 3 or 4 vaping sessions of medium strength. For me, that's nothing short of amazing.
Should you try it? Well, why not? BBuzzard is right . . . there are places that offer an honest to God money back guarantee if you decide you don't like e-smoking.
