Hey, new to the board and e-cigs. i've done alot of research and have read alot of reviews on here and various sites on which brand to get. Now i know there isn't a "perfect" e-cig thus far, but from what ive seen so far, i've narrowed it down to 2 brands; the Red Dragon and the njoy (NPRO). I think that i will be going with the NPRO based on the positive feedback (especially from their cutomer service). The main reason also, is because i found out one of my local smoke shops sells them and it would nice to be able to just buy my cartidge refills right then and there and not have to worry about ordering online and wait for shipping, yada, yada. So i guess my question is that... should i? lol. i mean i hear all this about atomizers breaking (which is what i liked about the red dragon having them built in every cartridge) . and how the taste is like smoking a fog machine. i dunnooooo. little help please on your honest opinion on the NPRO. (NCIG is outta the question, im not smoking a pen. looks ......ed)

also... i dont really understand this e-liquid? will i need it with the npro? is it a pain in the ...?? sounds kinda like it...

I had a 510 and it was a major pain in the ...! lol

I switched to the VaporKing from V4L and have never looked back. It is easy to use - just screw on the carto and puff. Simple! If you want to see some videos and comments about the VK, check out the forum here: Vapor4Life - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat You can refill the carts if you wish, very easy and helps cut the cost. But no dripping on the atty, cleaning it off, topping off the cart every 5 minutes just to get the taste you want. It is awesome! ;)

No matter what you end up getting, I wish you good luck on getting off the cigs! And welcome to the forum!

I got an Npro first and although I think their juices are way better than the others, it was not a consistent vaporing device. Just remember, I think you have to give it a little 'prime' puff each time before the real puff.

I eventually got a JOYE 510, which seems to be the most popular for beginners on this Forum. I love it. It is dependable and gives a good throat hit and lots of vapor. Yes, you'll have to top off the cartridge now and then with your favorite juice, but really, that's part of the fun, I think. Then I invested in a Janty Stick, very cool indeed. Next it'll be the Super-T, or the Protege, or the Silver Bullet, or AdapteveR....who knows. :D

As you read and read and ask questions, you're going to learn so much. It isn't as simple as it may appear at first. There are models that are very specially made for making long lasting batteries, great vapor, etc, a lot to learn but well worth the effort.

If you're young, you're lucky to have discovered the e-cig already. Good luck and have fun! :)

Hey Matt
Ive only been vapin about 4 mos now, but I moved to the cartomizer set up as well.
I cant speak for the brands that your considering, but I use the kr808d-1...and LOVE IT.
Also goes by nebula, vapor king and a few other names...HIGHLY recommended

Ive done the EVO, the joy510...etc etc and the kr808 holds its own for a cartomizer cig.
the user EDO on this forum has a lot of usefull info on refilling of the cartomisers etc,
and Ive have some info on a review of the ADAPTEVER pv that I use w/ cartomizers.
Both,Kr8o8 and greencig type. These cartomizer types also interchange w/ 901 batts passthroughs etc- very versitile...also info on that in my Adaptever review.

Additionally, theyve now come out w/ a manual battery for the KR808(I ordered mine yesterday from cigeasy.com- Very kwik shipping)

I'm In phx, az mystuff shows up in 2 days TOPS..I think theyre in Ca?

Far as the liquid dood...it comes w/ the territory LOL

Your mom said not to say...
Exactly, prefilled carts serve one purpose and one purpose only, they give the manufacturers something to ship with the E-Cig. Nobody, and I mean nobody relies on prefilled carts, why would they it would be incredibly stupid. It would be so stupid that even the terminally stupid would see how stupid it is.

So don't let the prefilled carts being handy have any impact whatsoever on your final choice. That said it is good to know that in an emergency you can score some carts until liquid arrives but that's about the only thing. I think I would avoid the red dragon I almost bought one until I realized they were going to be a bit more pain to refill. A good choice for the person looking to quit tobacco cigarettes are the m401 which is my preference, the 510 which is also an excellent choice, and the 901 which I don't know enough about to comment on. I was able to walk away from tobacco smokes the very day I got my m401 Dragon from Truesmoker.com and have not looked back. I have since gotten a 510 kit as a backup and to check out since they were so well spoken of and it's a fine choice as well.

Being over a pack a day smoker for over 30 yrs, I was amazed that I was able to stop with my Dragon m401 model the very day I got it. I also suspect it would have been the same if it had been the 510 that I had ordered first. Hope this helps you out, both these models are able refillable carts. One reason I like my 401 is that the model is perfect for dipping into juice, the 510 is perfect for dripping juice on the atomizer instead of carts.

I started off with the NCig. Other than the automatic batteries, I really liked it.

My daughter wants to quit, so I bought her the NPro.

On either one, the juice can leak down into the battery. That will kill the auto batteries. My two originals are now toast and NJoy sent me two more to replace them. Customer service also sent me an atomizer even though both of mine work just fine.

I bought an e9 kit because it seemed like the batteries wouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately, they tasted like crap to me. I gave those to my daughter's SO.

I preordered the Silver Bullet and a 510 kit to try to escape the constant battery shuffle. After reading what everyone said about the 510, I couldn't wait to try it (my NCig batteries were flaking out) and ordered another 510 kit.

I really like the 510, except for the small cartridges. It's easy to top off or re-fill, I would just like to not have to do it so often. I guess the large cart on the NCig spoiled me. The 510 does produce good flavor and lots of vapor. I still use it. I like the manual batteries much better than the autos.

I knew the Silver Bullet would solve the short-lived battery issue, but now I was going to be topping off the cartridges constantly. What the heck, I ordered the 801 adapter for the SB so I could use the NCig atomizer with it.

I think I've hit on the perfect solution FOR ME. I have the SB with my NCig atomizer for long battery life and the large cartridge. I also have the 510 with a PCC for when I'd like to be a bit more discreet.

I went through all of this in just about a month.

BTW, looking at the NPro cartridge, I believe even topping off will be a royal pain. Where the juice goes is way down deep inside. I don't know how anyone could replace the filler with any consistency and when you drip, you have to be super accurate. If you miss the filler with even one drop, you will get a mouthfull of juice. I tried it with one of my daughter's cartridges and she almost choked.

My daughter liked my 510 so much, I gave her one tonight. It's the one I ordered with the SB. ;)

Kind of depends on what you want out of an e-cig doesn't it? If you want to walk around with a screwdriver looking device in your mouth to get a good hit, go for it. If you don't mind messing with the atty, cleaning it, plucking it, soaking it in alcohol or wondering whether pepsi is as good as coke as a cleaner, dripping on the atty, topping off carts and so on and so on, that is good too. I didn't want something conspicuous, and I didn't need a new hobby of cleaning, filling, topping off, dripping or fussing. My life is busy enough. I wanted to screw the cart on the battery, put it in my lips and draw. I also wanted a consistant throat hit and good flavor which I never got from my 510 unless doing all of the above. And I found it! ;)

And sure, I refill my cartomizers, takes me about half an hour once a week and I am done. Helps cut down on the cost but the truth is, even if I bought the carts and only used them once, it is still cheaper then cigarettes. For those of you who want to fuss with all of that, more power to you, but for those like me who don't have the time or inclination for all that, the VaporKing is for you.

Whatever you choose to use, it is better then analogs so happy vaping! ;)

wow! u guys are quick! haha. i really appriciate all of you guys taking the time to respond and not only that but in a very honest fashion. but i guess to specify, the MAIN reason for my interest in e-cigs is really a safe alternative. ive been smoking for about 6 yrs now (camel, pack a day). And to be honest, (and this sounds as dumb as a cat with thumbs) my real reason is basically to quit, not smoking but nicotine itself. see unfortunately im blessed with a metabalism of a ...... on crack (still young at age 23) and im into working out. im too skinny for my own good and i realize that analog cigs (is that what u guys called them =p) prevent me from really getting in shape. i wanna have my cake and eat it too, so im looking for something less complicated and maybe something more traditional looking, under the radar (which is why pen-style isnt for me). and one that has the option for nicotine free! now is the juice nessessary? i get thats what adds flavor (and nic.), but other than that???
now i did go check out the dragon m401. like the way it looks. i couldnt tell what the difference was beween manual or automatic? also, i didnt see if the juice came in 0mg. they just had 18mg.
i got lost on the vapor king website, yep im dumb and have a short attention spa... what? ha. also i looked at the JOYE 501, which i did like. the price is reasonable, simple design. unfortunatley i still couldnt find 0mg nic juice. (?)
I think i have ALOT to learn lol. but lets dumb it down: traditional length, no nicotine, something i can use in public and home. ill meet u guys half way and will even learn to use the juice! any takers?

I am with JenJen. Less complicated = Vapor King / Kr808. Two pieces, a cartomizer and a battery. Screw the cartomizer onto the battery and inhale. Done. The number one misconception that VK folks are trying to correct is that you can't refill the cartomizer. You certainly don't have to, but you can, and when you do, the refill lasts longer than any other cart that I have tried and is a lot less messy to do so. I refill mine, and a cartomizer for me can last 6-10 refills, and KC (the VK pro) has been known to pull off 9-10 refills before tossing one. There is no atomizer cleaning, no maintenance, just consistent vapor and outstanding flavor. Even juices that I love from other places taste better in my VK cartomizers than they do in my other devices.

I have 510s, 801s, 901s, a Lady Pipe, and a 4081. The VK outshines them all. As soon as I get off my lazy .... and get moving, I will be placing all the others up for sale.

On top of everything I have posted already, the two main vendors for this model, Steve at Vapor4Life, and Drew at Nhaler, are both amazing guys who look out for their customers. They stand behind their products and don't require you to jump through hoops if something does go wrong.

If you don't want to listed to just Jen and I, I encourage you to check the sub-forums here for the two suppliers I mentioned.
