Should I start vaping after quitting smoking a year ago?

vaping is a good way to lessen the damage to your body from smoking. If you are still getting those cravings then vaping may be what you want. I started vaping the day my kit came in the mail and have not touched a cig since. Vaping gives me all of the nic I need and allows me to maintain that habit of hand-to-mouth and blowing "smoke" to fool my brain.

With all that said, I am not sure I would recommend that you start vaping since you have already stopped smoking. You have already shown that you have the willpower to put down the stinkies. However, since you still get those cravings I would recommend vaping over smoking another cig. It is a much safer alternative.

Hi themoron  and welcome to ECF. Happy about you quitting the stinkies but sorry to hear you're still getting the cravings. I really have mixed feelings on this BUT would HATE to see you start smoking again so, reluctantly, I would say yes but, in the end, it is your decision. After 44 yrs of smoking I began vaping 1 year ago at 36 mg nicotine and am now down to 2 mg. I plan on quitting vaping in the near term as I really do not wish to have another "yoke around my neck". If you do begin vaping I would suggest zero nicotine or a very low nicotine level of nicotine. The bottom line, IMHO, is if it's a choice between smoking or vaping I would strongly suggest vaping.
Sincerely Wishing the Very Best of Luck to You.

My thoughts are all over the place on this one. If you have managed to stay away for a year , got through the cravings, then I say continue to stay away from it all. But at the same time if you are about to reach for a cig I'd rather you have a simple e-cig around. I just don't know....

Congrats on quitting!!

Absolutely not. You are free of smoking, why run the risk of getting back in the habit?

I have been using an E-cig for the past 3 months (V2 E-cig which is great), but before this I had used two others (intellicig and Tornado 510), both of which had problems which made them unuseable. I went straight back onto the cigarettes.

If my V2 ever broke and I don't have a replacement battery, or if I forget to order juice and leave myself short, or if the UK government ban imports of e-liquid, then I'll probably be back to smoking cigarettes.

Don't do it to yourself. It's not healthy either. I often feel ill from overdosing on nicotine (now I've cut down to 6mg this is less of a problem), or my teeth feel like they haven't been brushed (it sometimes creates a buildup), it's just the lesser of two evils. We have no idea what the long term effects of vaping could be, as no-one has been vaping for over a decade yet.

Don't start vaping, and don't believe all you've been told in the sales guff from various parties with vested interests. Also, although it's not nearly as expensive as smoking, the cost of cartomisers, the occasional replacement battery and the juices all add up. I find I'm spending around £30-40 per month on my habit, which over a year is at least £360.
