Should I upgrade?

First off,
This is a wealth of information & I’m sure as hell glad it’s here because this can be overwhelming. So I’d like to say thanks!

I recently got a Halo Triton with the 650 mAh, I do love it. It’s been 4 days since an analog & I don’t think I’m looking back, but. I do find myself at times wanting a deeper vape. Almost as if it’s not enough. The cravings have just transferred to vaping & I’m down for that. I just feel like my Triton isn’t offering the volume it could/should.

Now, I noticed if I covered one of the holes at the bottom of the clearo I can get more resistance, but. I’ve also noticed that if I don’t “drag” so hard I get what I’m after.

Should I chill with the Triton a bit more or do I fit the bill for upgrading to a mod of some type. I’m new, so I don’t want to haul off into more spending with out the knowledge of it. When I’m not even sure that’s what I’d be after as it may just be technique.

Thanks in advance!

I had been vaping for about two weeks when I noticed the same thing.
I started taking slower but longer pulls. Realy made a huge difference to me.

I smoked a PAD of Marlboro Reds for years and when I initially started vaping, started with 24mg. This time around, I am at 18mg. Finding the right time to start stepping down the nic strength is tricky because only you can tell when it is time but if you get strong juice and don't need it at some point, you can cut it with a flavor/juice that has less nic.

i.e. a 50/50 mix of 24mg and 6 mg will give you 15mg. The goal would be to remove the cravings for a cigarette first. The delivery system choice (or upgrade) becomes a question of preference to you and what you want from that.

First off congratulations on quitting tobacco cigarettes!

You may want to try a 24mg liquid. Most B&Ms and online vendors offer that. You can also consider buying a variable voltage battery that you can tailor to your taste preference...

Ego Twist 650mah battery- $9.99
or if you want a longer battery life...
Ego Twist 1100mah battery- $15.99

Its always a good idea to have backups and backups for your backups as you will learn. You don't want any excuse like a dead battery that needs charging to go buy a pack of smokes to hold you off until your battery charges...

Stick with it and your smell and taste will come back and things like food will be much more enjoyable for you!

Started off with 18mg. Didn't want to increase it as my first vape was 18mg & was satisfying.
Thanks for the info!

Yeah, bump it up. Nicotine alone (even with PG and VG) is not nearly as bad for you as smoke. Two months in, I'm still at 24mg/ml. I started at 18, and although I didn't have serious cravings, the higher strength seems more satisfying. Also, experiment with flavors rather than equipment. At two months, I've finally found a juice that I'm happy with. Go to a good vape shop and try some flavors (if that's an option where you live). After 40 years of analogs, I can breathe and smell again.

Also, if you like the 'demonstrator' equipment, ask what it is and consider buying one. Almost anything will screw onto an Ego battery, and clearomizers can be cheap. I've settled on the EVOD because one shop where I go used that for trying new flavors. It seemed to work better than my T3S, but I've found that a new coil made that one better as well. The EVOD was less than $10, so it's not like it was a huge investment.....

Well, if you use 18mg but it doesn't curb your cravings you'll just vape more to get the amount of nicotine into your system that it craves. The cravings may taper off as you get used to lower nicotine or you'll just get used to going through liquid faster. I've only used 100%VG at 24mg but it's more satisfying to me with a good tank on a VV or VW device.

I definitely enjoyed vaping more when I switched from a small battery (eGo-style) to an APV. I've done a taste test between an eGo Twist set at 4.2 volts vs a APV at the same setting, and I don't understand the difference between the two devices in terms of electronics, but the APV definitely gave a more satisfying vape. In fact I wasn't able to quit smoking completely until I got an APV.

Obviously you'll have more choices in terms of the top part of your E-Cig -- cartomizers, clearomizers and/or RBAs -- once you move away from something like the Triton.

Welcome to the forum btw.

I have been 77 days smoke free and just happened upon what I think is exactly what might do the trick for you, maybe.

A dripper!

I've been using an i-taste mvp now from the start and just reciently purchased a mechanical tube MOD. The cheap but servicable i-atty it came with is rebuildable so I have been playing with it (see above link).

My lord the flavor and fullness just popped when I freshly saturated the wick and took a vape. This is a new found level of satisfaction I hope is not fleeting in any way. It is pure satisfaction.

I instantly wan to cut my juice nicotine level waaay down, there is that much of an instant realization of the potential for dripping type atomizers.

So for what it's worth, I'd suggest cutting your juice nicotine level way down, buy a dripper setup, and fall in love with vaping like you never did with smoking.

I am in no way affiliated with MBV but someone suggested I order from them when I first started and I did and was very pleased.

Check out Mt. Baker Vapor for some different e-liquids to try out.
They are $4.99-$5.99 for a 15ml bottle of liquid.
$7.49-$8.49 for a 30ml bottle of liquid.
Also if you exceed $15.00 in your order, they will throw in a free 15ml bottle of liquid in your shipment.
A very cool thing is that you can request a certain flavor in your desired nicotine level and PG/VG ratio and they will give it to you most likely (Every time I have requested a certain one they included it for me).
They offer 36mg, 24mg, 18mg, 12mg, 6mg, and 0mg nicotine strengths so you can choose which one you want accordingly...
Their shipping times are very fast and they have great customer service.
I just checked and they actually have a button where you can do a live chat with an employee if you have any questions too which is awesome!

Also another site you can check out is Penny Vaper. It is a site that compiles lists of the most inexpensive vendors that carry certain devices and toppers that you can order from online.

Sorry if all of this is overwhelming, but just trying to help out a fellow vaper!

There are a couple of things you can do with the Triton to improve the quality of vapor from it.

First, get some Kanger T2 coils. They are identical to the Triton coils, but are about 1/3rd the price. The Triton comes with a 2.2-2.4 ohm coil, try some lower resistance coils. Get a few 2.0-2.2 ohm coils, and possibly some 1.8-2.0 ohm coils. The lower ohm coils will get a little hotter and produce more vapor.

Coils are the cheapest "fix" since you can get 5 of the Kanger T2 coils for around $7.

Next, you may want to get the Triton Variable Voltage battery. This will allow you to adjust the voltage a little to find the "sweet spot" for you in vapor production and taste. Triton VV batteries are expensive though, about $30 each.

If that's still not satisfying you, get an 808 to 510 adapter and try out some of the clearos from Kanger and Aspire. Smoktech makes a nice little adapter that works great for just $4.

And of course you've found the first part of improving the vapor, slowing your draw down. Tritons are very airy in their draw, slowing down to a draw lasting 2-3 seconds improves the amount of vapor tremendously.

40 years of analogs, I can breathe and smell again.

I've had the opposite experience. I've had VV mods, most notably the SVD. For daily use I prefer my Triton. With 1.8-2.0 coils it produces similar amount of vapor as the SVD at a fraction of the size.

And Halo batteries are miles better than any Ego I've ever tried. I can get a day and a half out of my 650 mAh Triton batter, I'm lucky if a 1,000 mAh Ego lasts a full day.

A $4 adapter will let him run any 510 threaded topper on his Triton. No need to push expensive upgrades until his needs exceed what his current setup can provide, which he most certainly has not done yet,
