Yep, right there with you. Lost a dog to cancer, adopted 2 dogs (brother and sister from the same litter, nobody wanted the boy and we already had the girl) and I had it in my brain that this dog just wasn't MY dog. He was my dog, just not the dog I just lost. He knew it, all he did was everything I ever asked of him and gave unconditional love his entire life. I lost him as well a few years ago and took me almost 3 years to bring myself to want another!
My wife and I rescued a beautiful puppy a little over a year ago and she is a real stinker! She is awfully smart (too smart in fact) and is a button pusher and knows exactly how far to take things before she gets in trouble!!
