Here is a newer picture of Max, vigilant guardian of the backyard. No squirrel shall enter the yard while he is on duty! Anything else... He will run from :p They tell us he is 5, but sure looks younger!

So... they gave the dogs away before we had a chance to meet Bacon... so... my daughter was crushed. So, we went to the human society today to look and see what was available. We looked at several, but I think we might have found the dog. Anton was found as a stray, the lady that found him said that he did really well with her kids and her chihuahuas. I have a 10 and 12 year old and two chihuahuas. He's a 1-year-old schnauzer, cairn, dauchand, terrier or something or other mix. A mutt, he's REALLY sweet, adorable, docile, housetrained and I think he stole our hearts.

We got tomorrow afternoon to introduce our dogs to Anton to see if they all get along okay. I hope it goes well. Leo LOVES other dogs, but he's a rescue and gets really skittish around new people in new places. Julie doesn't like other dogs, but usually just ignores them and hopes they go away (literally, when Leo came to live with us, she refused to acknowledge his existence for two full weeks LOL). I'm hoping it all goes well. I think Anton would be a great fit for our family and hopefully we can give him a forever home.

So, Anton came home with us today. Julie is ignoring the whole situation, as expected. She is way above a lowly dog, she's a human, darn it.

Leo is showing him around his new digs and they are having a great time playing together. So far, no accidents, he's gone out the dog door once or twice and whined at the door to be let out. Sweet boy, but humping everything in sight (he was just neutered, so I'm hoping this stops, poor Leo has been molested!). Yes, I know how to stop it, we're working on it.

Hubby took Anton to the vet for his initial visit. He's in great health, they wanted to better treat the little ear infection he has and do a minor hernia repair next year, but he's doing fine. Having some sleep issues (he obviously slept with someone before coming to live with us), but we're just going slow. Leo is thrilled to have a friend to play with and Julie ignores him, outright. LOL

Here's Julie and Leo hiding out near my office to get away from the humping machine that is Anton. Julie's been laying there all day, looking around the corner. When he comes in, she scowls at him and goes under my desk. LOL
