Its been a while and I wanted to share something Im amazed at myself for doing.

Sorry if this comes off like Im gushing over myself, but I am.

For a long time Ive been enjoying NETs and I fill liquid needs with some simple DIY ( peppermint, strawberry-pineapple, cherry) because I vape so damn much I cant afford buying NET or other liquid to keep my habit up.

I finally gave DIY NET a try and honestly other than having the patience to let the crushed cigar (I paid 6 bucks for) sit for 3 months, its blowing my mind how good it came out.

Im thinking now, I dont ever have to pay for NETs again... Well at least not most of them, just a couple

I extracted a great Acid Blondie mini , crushed it, covered it in PG , strained it with a lab type filter and WOW. Came out to 60mls of pure extract and using a 20% ratio to make the finished juice , well, think of the savings.

I took some leftover of the Blondie and did a quickie kona coffee with a tad of belgium cocoa powder ( no sugar, sweetener etc) made 30mls of this cigar, coffee, cocoa extract and mixed up a 30ml and its even better.

If any of you are thinking, or have been thinking of trying DIY NET, try it, you might be doing a bit of gushing over your own accomplishments.

I've been into diy for months and have had very good luck - with a ton of reading and help - but diy NET I've not attempted. Where did you buy the cigar and how do you go about picking one? Of all the smokers I knew/know none of them smoke cigars. You simply crush the cigar - do you take the tobacco out of the outer wrapper? Cover in PG then strain it - what's the lab filter?

Yes. I may need a box of crayons for this as I'm completely clueless though I have read about the process which has also put me off in trying diy NETs.

I have never bought cigars and never really knew of more than a couple that I actually smoked.

I went to Bev Mo and they have a great tobacco humidor/ room.

I got one little cigar called "Acid Blondie" because I used to buy a great NET called Acid Blonde.
Figured it was my favorite NET so why not start with that. I also got an H.Upmann mini, because it was a bit less expensive and smelled so good. The guy said they were good low priced, but good quality.

I went with the easiest method, which is cold maceration.. Basically I got a mason jar, crushed the cigar, not micro crushed but smallish bits. I decided to use all PG as I was told it was faster to strain, VG takes a LOT longer. I bought some filters at Amazon , cheapest and you get 100 of them, was going to get a 10 pack, glad I went with the 100 as I think this is a new obsession.

I covered it with PG, just a tad over the top ( of the level of cigar bits, not the bottle) , figured some would absorb and did not want to let the top dry out. Thats it. Wait 3 months. I was told cigars were very mild on flavor so they need much longer than reg leaf tobaccos like Burley or virginias or other tobacco blends.

I took one of the filters which are round and sort shaped it into a pleated cone, I think there are how to's out there, but just winged it. I then put the cone shaped filter on top of another mason jar ( used a small binder clip to make sure it did not get out of shape or fall into the jar. Took a few hours to slowly pour it a bit at a time and drip filter.

After that I ended up with a bit over 60ml of extract and thats with a mini cigar. Let it sit for an hour or so and mixed up a 30ml bottle. I mixed at 20% flavor and the rest was enough nic base for 3mg and the rest was VG. Shake and used. Really good, shocked at how good it was.

I could see this becoming an obsession. I normally use almost 100% VG so this was a bit thinner and a tad more TH than Im used to, but still great. I just crushed the Upmann cigar and this time I used 50/50 ish PG/VG to cover it. We will see how much longer it will take to strain. I will update in a few months. I want to go and buy a couple more "Acid Blondies" and do the same process ( long time) and then try the " slow cooker method" to see how it tastes in comparison. Acid is the brand and they have other cigars, but I went with the Blondie because the liquid I always bought was Acid Blondie.

If you need any help, PM or ask away here. Im very happy with it. So clean tasting and more coil friendly than the one I was buying. Ive been vaping the one with the leftover Blondie and coffee/cocoa mix, really good too.

All I ever used in about over 2 years of rebuilding: scissors, nail clippers and screwdrivers. Granted, I do wish I had ceramic tweezers and a drill.

Great tools, but how do you need those for atomizers? I guess if you are twisting for those fancy coils?

Correct. The drill is essential for twisted and other complex wire builds. The vise is used to hold tension during coiling for consistent symmetry. Its clamp-on feature allows the vise to be portable and easy to store when not in use.
