I have used the slotted cartos, My problem with those is when the bottom cap of the tank slides over the slot it kinda scrapes the o ring. With the holes the oring slides over smoothly. I'm sure they are both fine, I just like the holes better.

Yep. I actually smooth the edges of the slots with a tiny file but I know I'm making a lot of shavings so I'm going to try the drilled holes.

Hey e, I've been using a dremel but I was thinking of using the drill press. You find one 1/16" hole to be big enough? I would think more might be needed. The slots I've been cutting provide a lot more flow space. Perhaps the slots are overkill?

i started with the two slots, then one slot. switched to two holes, then one just the one hole. and yup, its big enough - no problems wicking through, even with the dc.

The hubby got his 801 top cap for the BP last night and needed to slot a fusion, we decided to try the 1/16" drill bit. First time around, he had the bit sticking out a bit to much and broke all the way through. When the bit came out cotton did as well, so that was $1.60 in the trash. The second try, he set the drill bit deeper into the chuck so only 2/16" of the bit was sticking out and that worked great! The drilled hole had a few rough edges, but not as bad as slots and a light sand took care of it no problem. He has been using the carto since last night and it is whicking fine. This seems to be much safer and easier then the dremel!
