:censored:!!!!!!
I am sick and tired of the mess that carts make. Really. Sick. Of. It.
The juice always oozes out and it is sticky and I hate wasting.
I do not think it is an issue with how I am filling the carts. I simply think it is an issue with carts period.

So I started dripping. I have a stainless steel drip tip that I am ordered with my Ego kit, and no matter what way I try to use it I always end up getting juice in my mouth. As much as I LOVE my swedish fish and fire and ice, I do not want to drink it.

I have tried dripping straight into the drip tip, blowing lightly on the tip and even tapping it on my palm.
I have tried just dripping into the atty and then putting the drip tip on.
My next try will be a delrin tip but am frustrated in the meantime.

What should I do? Cartos? They are expensive and they are tedious to fill aren't they?

Love,
Frustrated in Maryland

Yes try cartomizers, and no they aren't tedious to fill. Just pop the soft cap off and drip down the side. Some also like the condom method for filling (lots of youtubes on this).

(there are other 510 cartos that are hard to fill. Check the 510 forum for which ones these are. )

I refuse to use cartridges/dripping for the same reasons you list, and actually stopped vaping completely awhile back because of cartridges.

As for cost, if you only use 5 cartomizers a week that is about $6-$10 per week. Many people stretch them even further than that.

I've been using both carts and cartos. I seem to have more trouble with refilling the cartos, TBH. If I put too much juice in, then it leaks out and I have to wipe it up so it doesn't go into my battery. Still, it's cheaper for me right now then buying new ones. I haven't had any trouble with refilling the carts for my 501 PT. Usually 12-15 drops is all it takes for one that's completely empty, and I use a straightened out paperclip to get all of the air out of the filler. I'm not sure if this is particularly helpful for you.

I have done all three, drip tip, carts and cartos. My opinion on each:

Drip Tip: *method I prefer for at home* Huge vapor, good flavor, very messy. I use a delrin and I have gotten juice in my mouth but only if I don't tap it down. Sometimes I just take it off and drip directly on the atty. If I drip through the tip I tap it down in my palm (like packing cigs). Only thing I hate is the leaking. I keep a paper towel handy.

Carts: *method I dont use at all* Decent vapor, decent flavor, very messy.

Cartos: *method I use when out and about* Fair vapor, decent flavor, hardly messy. I prefer the ease of cartos, but the vapor is just not what Im used to with dripping. It's not dinky, but not the huge clouds of vapor I can get with dripping. Flavor is slightly diminished to me as well. I dont find them hard to refill at all, pop off the end cap and drip down the side into the filler. Nice to use when Im driving as I don't have to constantly drip every 3 puffs.

My 2 cents.

They're obscenely expensive, a nightmare to fill and you might as well be sucking on one end a lit traffic flare.

Not sure why they are considered expensive. They are like 7-10 bux for 5 of them, and some will last you as long as an atomizer. They are also easy to fill. It just takes a little getting used to and some trial and error.
If I was to use them once and throw them out it WOULD be obscenely expensive, but I have some that are 3 months old, and still work great.

you can tail pipe - drip without tip/cart - but 510/901 can get pretty hot on the lips. 801 isn't bad at all.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.
I use a toothpick when I fill my carts to let juice saturate the filler.

Maybe my first try will be a better drip tip and a pack of cartos. I will see how it goes.
Thanks

It is a pain in the .... but This should fix your problem. Take a cart and rip the guts out of it, Or if you have some blank carts maybe from some spare atomizers you bought. The pain part is pull the cart off to drip put it on to puff. That should keep the juice out of your mouth unless the atomizer is flooded. I had to drip like for a long time till i learned not to drool in my atomizer:w00t: Hope this helps

Java! My hero:)
That is an obvious solution. I have a ton of those empty carts and will try this when I get home.

Oh, so you said unless the atty is flooded?
I wonder if this could be my problem. How do you tell if it is flooded?

A wide mouth drip tip will definitely cut down on getting juice in your mouth...the narrow ones tend to pool the liquid at the top. You can purchase wide mouth delrins for a pretty inexpensive price and they work great :).
As far as cartos...I hate the ones with the filler. Once you have dripped it'll be hard to replicate the flavor with a carto w/filler. The new E2 XLs are pretty nice, you still get the flavor of dripping. Filling them is a bit of a hassle, but they do last quite a while w/o having to refill...I don't use any special mods with them, filling takes a couple of minutes, so I just fill a couple of them and go, they are very convenient :).

I realize this suggestion will push your "mess" meter a bit, but there are a lot of cart mods around and some work pretty well. The DART mod work for me for a long time until I just got better at it without the straw. The biggest thing I've learn, I guess, with carts is not to try and pack them full. They work much better having them under filled with just the filler being saturated and nothing pooling below it.

There is a learning curve but you'll get the hang of it over time.

There are also needle tipped filler bottles that let you inject the juice from the bottom of the cart - stab right into the filler to the bottom and then start squeezing in the juice.

If you start getting less vapor and your PV is getting warm at the threaded end, hear a gurgling sound...these are all good indications of flooding. Pretty easy to tell when you're not sure...just take off the atty, blow all the liquid out, take a vape and then redrip a couple of drops. Vapor production and flavor should increase and PV should cool down a bit.

 Oh man i hope this doesnt mean i have to come up with a Vaping Super Hero Costume. I hate tight fitting clothes. :(

But that should work it was rare i got any in my mouth when i used those and was from dripping to much in the atomizer. Also pointing the battery end down a little bit while vaping can help keep the fluid where it should be. :)
