12mg isn't that strong, a lot of vendors label they're 12mg juice as low. How long were you using 8mg stuff?

12mg might be a low level of nicotine for some people, but it might be a little too strong for others.

JB, it could be that you aren't used to vaping 12mg. Did you try to move up because you're having cravings or just because you wanted to try it? You might have also over-vaped and given yourself a little too much nicotine. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water, too. Even if 12mg is too much, don't throw out the juice because you can always lower the level by adding more of the same flavor that doesn't contain nicotine.

Using 8mgs for about 2 1/2 mts. I bought it because the 8 mgs was supposed to be equal to an ultra light cig which I smoked but wasn't satisfied with. Lately, I was smoking my son's light cigs and it seemed nicer to me, so I purchased the 12 mgs one because it said that it equaled a light. By the way, I purchased from gourmet vapor.--received it today and was checking out flavor ( got 2 different flavors) but after about 1 hr, I felt a little light headed, not much but the feeling was a little different.
Sorry if these are stupid posts. I've been vaping for about 2 1/2 mts and I'm not trying to make mistakes. Just wanted to know if I did the wrong thing and yes, I know 8 is low but for health reasons ( bronchitis)a while back, i switched to ultra lights.
Thanks very much for responding before and the same to woman of heart.

Thanks, I guess I rushed things too fast. As far as cravings, the answer was exactly yes, Ultra lights seemed to not give me the punch I was looking for. I ask these questions because it amazes me here that heavy duty vapers use such high strengths ( 24--etc). If I tried that, I definitely wouldn't be vaping. I received 4 cartridges of 24 mgs in my kit and had to dump them. If I knew anyone around, I would have gladly given them to that person.

Its been about over a week since I started vaping. I have been getting 18mg juice some and diluting it with vg 70 drops of nic and 30 drops vg (5ml total) so about 12.5mg or something like thats nic. Its been pretty good, I still have the craving for analog but once i vape ..... i get my fix and im good till the next 2 hours. I think I might go down a bit lower after a couple of weeks.

If you were on 8mg for 2 1/2 months(?) then you are used to 8mg. 12mg is 50% more nicotine so yeah I guess that could make you lightheaded if you are vaping it as much as you vaped the 8. Some common symptoms of too much nicotine are lightheadedness, headache, racing heart.

If you are still also smoking cigarettes, that could make it worse, from a. more too much nicotine and b. breathing the CO2 and everything else a cigarette has in its smoke

No, no more cigs and that's why I don't wanna make mistakes in what I pick. I still have the urge and longing but I'm also trying to develop will power. It ain't easy though

Ah - so you tried your son's e-cigarette (not cig) I was confused.

If you feel you need the 12mg then try easing into it - maybe vape a bit less to start, or mix 8 and 12 to start (or alternate them)? That should work.

Is your e-cigarette hardware satisfying you as far as the feel of the drags etc? And what about the aroma of the juice you are using? Various things can add to satisfaction. I found I needed some TH and an aroma that reminded me of smoking. Now, 2 months later, I find I can actually vape some non-tobacco flavors for extended periods ( I am really enjoying vanillas). Some others can start right out with non-tobacco juices.

Let your nose get a whiff of the vapor sometimes. If you don't make an effort to do that occasionally then all the aroma could go right in your mouth.

OK, reading alot of the posts in my thread lets me know I did this all wrong and what makes it worse is that I made a mistake when I said *8 mgs*. I looked at the bottle and realized it was *6 mgs* ( 6 to 12) so it's actually double. So, I'm gonna take it easy. To the person that asked if I smoked my son's cig, well yes, it was a light cigarette ( marlboro lights). Thanks again for chipping in with the different answers. After 40 yrs of smoking, I really don't wanna screw this up. Since starting to vape, It's been really different. For the last 3 to 4 yrs I was coughing with every drag with cigs. Basically, it's been no fun at all.

It it means the strength of the liquid. you can still get a strong with any liquid if 2 types of liquid is used. It has to do with percentages. It all has to do with the type of liquid you use. Some provide a good th. Others provide a heavy vapor but not a big throat hit. There's 2 types of liquid--VP--heavy vapor and PG--less vapor but stronger th. Mixing the 2 satisfies many people. In my situation, VP is nice because my throat has been damaged by yrs of smoking. All of them give a nicotine strength depending on how stong you like it. Hope this helps.

I started out at 6mg over a month ago and then had to take a week to transition myself up to 12mg because the 6mg just wasn't cutting it. I started the transition by taking about 10-15 puffs on my 12mg before vaping with the 6mg. I always had the PV in my mouth at 6mg. I vaped a little less at 12mg and was feeling more satisfied, but it still wasn't enough for me, so I am in the process of transitioning up to 18mg which is working out much better for me. You may stop at 12mg, but the key is giving yourself some transition time. You're body will get used to the higher level of nicotine if you give it some time and don't force the change to happen too quickly.

I am personally not going to even try a 24 as the 18 is working out just fine.

Nicotine does effect the throat hit. I find the higher the mg of nicotine the harder the throat hit (Which I like.)

If the 6mg isn't satisfying you and you're still having urges I suggest slowly transitioning up to the higher mg instead of a constant vape with it. I have two cartomizers during the day, one at 12mg and the other at 18mg (Which I top off as needed.) I can tell when I need the 18mg and when it's time for either a break or to switch back to the lower mg for a while.

I hope this helps,
~E

I read somewhere on here that it doesn't matter what kind of cigs you smoked, we all have our own personal nic levels, and this made complete sense to me after I did something similar to what you did.

Think about it... a 2 PAD smoker isn't necessarily smoking 40 entire cigs per day; some put them out halfway, some only take two or three puffs, there is time spent in hand or in ashtray not inhaling, etc. There can potentially be a lot of waste and downtime not smoking.

I have been vaping since July 2010. I started with some 36mg juices. I now have a variety from 12-36mg. If I am know I am not going to be able to vape frequently, I take the higher mg with me. At home I use whatever I happen to grab. When I was smoking analogs, I smoked Misty menthol light 120's. But even though they were 'light", I took long drags, and smoked to the ..... I know I could finish a 120 cig before some of my friends would finish their regular cigs.
I do believe I am getting more nic now because the frequency of use is greater. I never smoked in the house, but now I vape in the house and even in bed. I have never gotten light headed, but if I feel a bit queasy, just drinking some water helps.
I think the nicotine level you need depends on how you used your analogs.
I am far from being an expert, the comments above are just from personal experience and observations.

I'm not an expert either but I ordered 12 & 24 of the same brand and definitely like the 24. I might lower it eventually but I feel great and I'm not craving analogs. So I really don't care about the mgs at this point.

History might have something to do with it. I tried in the past and couldn't quit. I was never a 'light cigarette' smoker.
