When you quit smoking, your body begins to heal. You lungs will clean out all of the gunk that has built up. Also, your taste buds will begin to heal so things willtaste weird for a few days. You may also notice bad breath for a while. What you are going through is completely normal. Your taste buds will heal and come back and the cough will go away.

The biggest side affect from vaping is dehydration. Make sure you drink a lot of water. You will find that your mouth gets dry.

I can tell you that in the past, if I got a cold, I would have a mucousy cough for several weeks after. I am just getting over a cold and for the first time in 10 years, I don't have that hard to breath, mucous cough. It's awesome.

The coughing may very well continue for a while as your lungs start to get rid of all the tar and toxins we all have been putting in our bodies by smoking. It will get better, though. Your tastebuds will recover over time and a lot of foods may very well taste a bit different than what you remember. Other side effects? I haven't noticed any, I feel better, the cough is pretty much gone by now, occasional irritation from the vapor but only if I don't drink enough water. Vaping does dehydrate so make sure to keep your water intake up, above what you were drinking while smoking. It'll help with taste, too. Good luck! :)

mmm...,bacon butties...mmmmm. :)

Quitting smoking (I've done it a zillion times) is stressful on your body. Crap comes out of your lungs, so quitting smokers often notice increased coughing for a while. Your wife is correct, I think! I think also it's a general "shock to your system" which may impact your immune system temporarily, so quitters may suddenly catch a cold or some "bug" that's going around.

Since vaping I've gone from 50-60 smokes per day to between zero and three. Initially had the "coughing up a lung" thing going but feel fantastic now.
Also, vaping can really dry out your mucous membranes...you seriously need to drink lots and lots of water.

As Mroutlaw said, the coughing should be from not smoking or smoking much less and not from vaping. The only reason you should cough from vaping is from a dry mouth/throat and it usually doesn't involve the lungs like a cough from smoking. There aren't really any side effects from vaping except the dehydration or mild symptoms like a headache or nausea if you're vaping too much or the nicotine content is too high. Drink plenty of water and within a few days to a month or so, symptoms from smomking less should stop.

Yes, this is a question that's been asked before, but it isn't silly at all and bears repeating.

Your morning sputter & wheeze episodes are likely intensified—if not caused—by a dry throat/mouth typical of vaper's dehydration: the same hygroscopic properties of PG or VG that suck moisture out of the air to create vapor will do likewise with your body's water content. It's important—especially early on—to compensate by drinking lots of liquids.

Another common side effect is insomnia: nicotine is a stimulant, and when ingested without the monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) present in cigarette smoke, a lot of people wind up staring at the ceiling all night.

If this happens to you, just switch to a low/no-nic e-juice in the late afternoon/evening hours.

Here in the us, they are not touted about because they can to be sold as a smoking cessation device, only a smoking alternative. If they were sold as a smoking cessation device, they would be considered a drug delivery system and therefore subject to stricter laws.

not knowing what to vape/smoke. the choices are too great and make it feel like a baskins robbins with more than 31 flavors.

Feeling odd in public.Would highly advise buying a drip shield for going out as to not have to use napkins .

feeling like you need to convert others. Watch the movie rapture 1991.

hording.Good luck , buy a box and refuse to put more in it that you thought was enough when you started.
