How is that ? is a spring? Maybe we need a better pic. Looks like a copper sleeve and even if it is a copper/spring it is only serving the purpose of sleeving the generic pin used in assembly to make it larger in diameter.
Does it come out the bottom with the Brass battery connection?

I've had mine apart its a close coil SPRING :D

?
Okay, so........what is its function in this assembly? Spring application or spacer/conductor?

Lol :) the top pin goes it to the spring and when you push the button the spring makes contact with the top pin, sounds dodgey, but its quite well done ;) I've been hammering mine constantly for 4 days now and its been flawless :) I've had it in bits half a dozen times too, no problem ;)

If I understand correctly, the point of the spring is that it is flexible when the pin pushes in from the side. Copper sleeving wouldn't "bounce back." Or am I missing something...

Probably not, but it sounds like sigelei is. Why wrap Brass with a spring to protect it, but not the top Copper pin? Brass is harder and less likely to bend back from the switch than the small copper top pin.

ETA - Plastic housing looks to be machined rather than properly molded. Molding would leave the back side supporting the top/bottom pin placement. Both pins should also be same diameter mounting on center. for perfect contact placement.

That is how I see it also. Time will tell how the spring holds up.

I actually kind of like it and will leave it until I have issues, if you could get the everything rhodium plated it would probably work quite well for a long time as long as the spring doesn't get deformed from something.

But I still have plans for an adjustable top post and a stainless button with upgraded lock (no spiny spiny).

Stainless button would be good, the brass one seems to tarnish quite quick, think I'm going to order the #19 its next day delivery here in the uk :D

Damn I seriously give up :p

Whit no offense to your 4 day torture test, but there are a lot of other variables that could cause the spring to deform. For instance if your pushing a lot of current through the mod it could be a week point and get hot, add the force being applied from the side and it may worsen the situation, especially as time goes by. Or various other things, all that I meant was that it was bit different and time will tell how it works out.

I can't tell you my overall opinion on a lot of things in four days of use.

Fair enough bud, was just saying hehe, if it goes pear shaped I'll mod it, as the saying goes "if it ain't broke don't fix it" :D
