After reading about silicone wicks ive become very alarmed, and im not sure if my current problems from vaping come from a PG reaction, or silicon crystals embedded in my lungs....

So my question is do the new nanos have silicon wicks? if they dont ill buy 10 immediately.... Im back on analogs as of today and it makes me sad....

sorry i was explaining in another thread, after about 2 weeks using SIs watermelon in a ce3 i developed an extremely sore throat/nasal passages/chest, a tight wheezing cough, my asthma flared up, i started getting minor headaches and generally felt like crap, i stopped vaping and symptoms immediately began to lessen, its now two days later and most of the symptoms are gone, however some new chest problems are occuri ng from switching back to analogs -____-

the threads on our cartos as silica.. not silicon.. I will check on what is in all the other clearos including the ce3.

"Silicon is a chemical element. Silica is silicon dioxide formed via oxidation of silicon."

Im sorry i totally meant silica >< i wrote the original post while very tired -__- I believe i read that you posted that the new t-3s are wickless? If the nano has silica wicks ill wait for the t-3, but id prefer the nano since im already sort of used to ce3s, while i havnt ever used a clearomier. Thanks for the response imagine! i love your products so far, and im not at all trying to discredit SI because the wicks are silica, as i understand pretty much every company is using silica wicks, however i feel that this should be more of an issue in the vaping community in order to avoid negative press.... Im sure all the news channels will jump at the chance to report on silica crystals being lodged in your lungs, not to mention BT's reaction.

If SI was one of the first companies to move away from such materials i think you could really be setting a standard for the industry :D

Then again, im a noob and may have no idea what im talking about, as i said it could likely be a PG reaaction affecting me, however i still feel that this should be getting more attention here on ecf.

I think this is the right thread though there may be others.

Wick materials. Safe vs dangerous.

Still reading the thread but have to agree with this post on another forum to a certain degree. And this being the post referred to(challenger) I think.

And yes that is the thread.

As with most things on the web, reader be ware. Just because something is posted doesn't make it so. But, I will continue to search for answers.

Thanks for the post.

After reading through some posts on the link you posted, most of the arguements against the guy claiming silica could be dangerous, are mildly racist, and hinged on the fact that he doesnt speak english very well and is thus not qualified to produce such slides... Im not saying hes 100% right, im saying it appears there is something going on here, and we as a community are unsure about it, more attention should be paid to what were putting into our body if we want4 to be able tos ate, as adamantly as we tend to do, that e-cigs are a safe altrernative to cigaretes.

Also you should take this into account if you are going back to smoking.

Smoking Effects Pictures: How Smoking Affects the Teeth, Face, Lips, Skin & Breasts

We all choose our poison I guess.

Im only returning to smoking for the time beign as i can no longer stand the symptoms, i put in an order for a bunch of DIY equipment last night so i can start making my own VG juices, and im planning to either find a wickless system or switch to bamboo/cotton wicks, however, as was stated in the OTher thread, both bamboo and cotton could ptentially put off similar (tho likely less dangerous) particles, so IMO we shouldnt be trying to figure out which wick is best, we should be trying to figure out how to remove the wick!

True mate.

I have to say I did the same because let's face it what do we really know what "Joe ejuice maker" is really putting in our liquids we buy? I bought 250ml 6mg nic 50/50 liquid and various flavorart flavorings. Now how do I know if it really is 6 mg liquid? Let's just say my first few batch taste absolutely horrid and made me nauseous.

Now if it does get regulated (many post around about that) the price will skyrocket. Which may be a good thing or a bad thing.

I definately feel your fear in terms of regulation, but thats where having an expansive ACTIVE community like this can prove helpful (or work against us) in terms of self regulation.

little birdhouse in your soul
I wanted to make a few quick points (and note that I am equally as interested in the answer from Imagine on the contents).

my disclaimer is that I am no expert but wanted to say that one, I found employees to work at a sylica mill, processing thingee (notice my technical apptitude). This plant took large fragments of sylica and would mill it into smaller sizes for various uses, including toothpaste which you will see is on the list of things sylica is used in. None of the workers wore masks and spent 8 hours or more a day in the dust. Additionally, the articles that are mentioned are talking about dust (this part is my opinion only); with the wicks, how could dust be created and inhaled when wet? And, taking something that someone found on the internet and posted on a forum that may or may not be related to the subject that is being discussed or the poster really knowing...............

My second point, and I am sure this will rub a few the wrong way..............we buy PVs that are not regulated at all, mostly manufactured in China where they use lead based paints in children's toys (something that IS regulated), ingest/inhale juice which has no ingredient list (also not regulated) and then surprised that there could be something dangerous in it????? Even if the sylica is non-harmfull; the plastic these things are made from, the pigment to color them, the silicone processing, the contents of the flavoring, the nicotine portion of the juice and its ingredients, the pg, the vg, the exposure to extended battery use and peanut butter injected into rats could cause you all cancer (obviously hope that it doesnt).

just a thought
