Due to a once valid economic concept that the internet economy has made partially outmoded via paradigm shift but which businesses have yet to catch up to. Economy of scale - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Some suggestions: It looks to me like a segment of the community is interested in this, not just me. Is there any mechanism (a poll?) we can coordinate a list of people through the forums who would buy some of this and what they'd buy it for? Or is there an eSmoking retailer who would volunteer to buy a $50 minimum order and sell it through their shop in smaller quantities?
I hope this post is not getting into disallowed territories talking about that; if so, moderator please remove it and let me know how to change what I'm saying to comply. Thx!

Here is a place where you can order just 5 feet.

Amber Latex Tubing, 1/4 ID x 1/16, 5 ft. for sale. Buy from The Science Company.
Although I don't know if you will be able to stretch 1/4 ID to 3/8.

Same place sells glass droppers. The rubber bulb can be pulled off and fits on a 510..Just tried it.Hard to get off..May be better than silicone if you have a black one.

Glass Droppers, pk/4 for sale. Buy from The Science Company.

Of course you would have to cut the end off or drill a hole..I think I got it at the local drug store.

I'd be up for the group buy. But I'm not 100% that it will fit/work like we want it to, and $50 of it will be alot of tubing. Though with like 5 people it'd be under $20 each with shipping and everything so I'd prob do that. It'd be great if a retailer would sell it.

The latex may work but it will have a smell/taste unlike silicone, and it's not really a very nice color.

I did not even realize you guys did not want latex. It does look a little piss yellow color.lol
This place has silicone in the right size.5/16 x 7/16 .I am 99% sure it would fit a 510 because the same size in clear nylon tube fits. You could wait till they get 10 foot lengths back in stock maybe.

Well, folks, I'm shocked that my carefully worded email play for a free sample actually worked!

It came in the mail today; only about six inches, but that is all I need to try it out and see what I think and report back to you. I will remember the manufacturer is CleanAir, URL above, so if I need anything in the future they have, or we do have a group interested in getting 50 feet of this tubing, I will make sure to get it from them as thanks for the sample.

It looked a little thicker walled than I thought it would be, but it is clearer and a bit softer than the pen grips, and of course when slid on the cart (tight fit, it won't slip off) it got thinner.

As noted, I have already cut a piece to size and tried it on a cart while vaping. It makes it even easier to hold in your mouth than my previous attempts. It definitely meets my needs. There is no taste, of course, and I don't have to clench the cart with my teeth hard to keep it from slipping.
All in all, I'm a happy camper. I agree, it would be nice if one of the sellers bought 50 feet or more of this and resold it in appropriate cart sized lengths at a reasonable markup. It sounds like there might be a potential market; me for one.

Here are pictures of the tubing beside some carts for comparison of size, and a picture of one beside another cart at a medium distance, and a closeup.

I think in normal room lighting, being clear, and attached to an entire eCig, it looks less big and intrusive than the photos may make it appear to be.

If anyone has any questions about this silicone tubing, just let me know.

That looks perfect. I cant believe they actually sent you some. I also wanted to point out that 901 flat mouthpiece carts from health cabin fit on my 510. I dunno if all the 901 carts fit the 510? as i don't have a 901. I placed an order the other day and just got a box of them to try, only $2. They make it pretty easy to hold in you mouth.

Probably because of the way I worded my email, that I sent it from my corporate email and phone, and that I had it sent to the address of the place I work. Sending out samples like this is common for marketers and salespeople to engage in to try to get new business. But note that I did not say it was for work use. And the piece sent was of really minimal value (probably cost them a penny), sent by regular mail, so also low cost. Not like it is going to break them at the bank, and even in this situation it brings them goodwill through the users at this site who, who knows, may some day use them for some entirely unrelated purchase.

Here's the email that worked, edited for anonymity. They never called or emailed back, just stuck the thing in a small manila envelope with bubble wrap and hand wrote the address I gave on it and shot it off in the mail:

Hello,

I am writing to request a sample of a flexible silicone tubing CleanAir carries to determine if it meets my needs.

I am specifically interested in the 1/4' I.D. x 3/8" O.D. x 1/16" Wall High Temp NSF-51 Silicone Rubber Tubing.
Here is a link from your website to the product, part number 1126. Clean Air - Silicone Tubing 1126

My mailing address is:

xxx xxxx c/o xxxxx
xxxx xxxxxxx xxx
xxx, xx xxxxx

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like further information.
I may be reached at this email address or by phone at xxx-xxx-xxxx during normal working hours.

Hello to all,

I didn't quite read throught this whole thread so Im not sure if this was already posted as an idea, but I infact was already trying to think of a way to give the carts a more rubbery feel and a way to grip them better. I repair and mod gaming systems on the side and tend to use shrink wrap quite often. The shrink wrap I most recently bought from my local store (have moved since then) has a rubbery texture to it. Almost like a smooth silicone type texture. When it is heated is also seems to keep that texture. So I figured when I finally get my kit in I will throw a peice of black shrinkwrap over it, cut to length and shrink it down with my heat gun. Shrinkwrap can be purchased in a variety of colors and is generally very thin and durable.

I will give it a test run when I get my kit in, if someone trys it before I do post up your results! If you try it and dont like it, an X-Acto knife will take if off just as easy as it was put on.

You should ask fellow vapers in your area if the use "cartomizers" those come inside 2 silicone round tubes that fit perfectly on any 510 or 901 round tip cartridges and most people just throw them away.

You could get them for free and they really work very good for what you want.

Electronic Cigarette | E Cigarette | E Liquid - Cartridges for E8 or U8

Or you can buy them also 20 for $2.15

Electronic Cigarette | E Cigarette | E Liquid - Rubber Tip

---

zactly what I was going to say, I use them all the time instead of the cart. Just cut a small hole in it and slip in on the atomizer. Puff puff rest...

I have a Vapor King and the little caps that come on the cartomizers work great for this application. They fit the 901 and the 510 very well. I actually replaced my carts with these things. You can get a handfull of them from the suppliers that sell cartomizers.

I have read comments in the forums, and have thought myself, about wanting to hold an eCig in my mouth hands-free. I've found I can only do that by clenching it tightly between my teeth and not moving my head too much or too fast. But it is difficult because of the weight of the end and the slipperiness of the plastic cartridges.

I read someone suggest a rubber cartridge, but I think that is not workable for various reasons. I also read the suggestion of using one of the cartridge rubber tips (cartridge "condoms") but I thought they were not really round (for a round tip cartridge) and not long enough.

I decided a good choice would be an unobtrusive silicone tip, open-ended at both sides, that fit snugly over the end of the cartridge. Silicone doesn't react with virtually anything, it doesn't decay like rubber, has no taste, and is basically pretty harmless, so it seemed like a reasonable candidate to me.

I did some internet searching, but just couldn't find what I was wanting- something thinner (and cheaper, certainly) than the medical or lab-grade silicone hoses I was finding. After some time of racking my brain and trying different searches, I happened to look down at a pen on my desk. A pen with a silicone finger grip. :D and the inner diameter seemed like it might work, but it was too thick, etc. I went to the local office supply store and looked through the pens and pencils, and found a few types that had grips that seemed like they might work. (See accompanying pictures, one of the specific pens and mechanical pencils I selected, one of pen and pencil grips pulled off and put beside a cartridge for comparison, and one with the grips cut and placed on the carts, with the grip remainders above the grips).

With a little effort, I worked the grip slowly off the pen and pencil after unscrewing their tips. They were too long, though. so I placed the grips against a cartridge, and decided what part of them I wanted to use, and cut them with an ordinary scissors to a size so they were just short of the length of the cylindrical part of the cartridge (an hobby blade knife might give better results than scissors for this).

To get the grips on the cartridges takes a slight effort. It helps if you wet the cartridge and inside of the grip with some water. If it were a little slippery, that would help get them on easier, as long as the slippery stuff is safe and will dry out so it won't stay slippery. There's no need to use any kind of adhesive, you should use pen grips that are just slightly smaller in diameter than the cartridge so they are held on well by friction.

Once you work the grip over the tip of the cartridge as much as you can by pushing on the grip, grab the grip, perhaps with some tissue paper or a piece of rubber around it to aid with friction and slide it up onto the cartridge until the end is even with the cartridge end.

I have tried this out, and these grips really helps you to hold the cartridge in your mouth. And the pens and pencils are still usable without their grips if you don't want to be wasteful; you could wrap the former grip area with tape or something else if it bothers you.

While I only bought small packs of the pens and pencils to test this out, they are both available more cheaply at office supply stores in larger-quantity (say 16 or 20 each) boxes. You can just put one on each of several carts. It would be a little laborious to be constantly changing them out; this method works best if you are filling and reusing empty carts and their filler, certainly, as I am, rather than always using prefilled carts.

This is a workable, but not an ideal solution to me - I would ideally like a smooth matte-finished very thin (fraction of a mm) silicone end covering. Can anyone suggest where I might obtain such a material pre-made? While I've worked a little with silicone for hobbies, I'd really rather not go to the trouble and expense of manufacturing it myself from a silicone mix from Smooth-On Mold Rubber or the like if something premade already exists.

I hope some folks find this helpful, and I welcome any comments or suggestions!

Thanks and Happy Vaping!
Hi, there, I just recently bought my first e-cig (haven't received yet) but when I was doing my research on which pv to buy I saw a model called V901. Is a very uncommon model but it actually exists and guess what? It has soft cartridges but like I said It´s very rare I only have seen it in a mexican site, it also appears in the wiki "Brand and Model Compatibility Chart" and only seen it sold by bulk in china web sites (sorry, cant post links yet)

Hope it helps
