Khaleej Times Online - Hazardous e-cigarette Smoked out of Market

The excerpt that made my head explode:

Dr Al Maidoor said to date there is no study that could prove that the e-cigarette can be used as a therapy to
quit smoking.
On the contrary, e-cigarette “will encourage smoking more and more,” especially among children, because “they can easily hide it as there is no fume and no smoke.

“Even if the father is sitting nearby, they can smoke and hide it in their pocket. It is very dangerous as it could encourage users to smoke more and more,” she emphasised.
She also warned that “it will cause high addiction because there are no filters” and could also encourage “the habit of drug addiction.”

Sorry, just had to share. Google News isn't always your friend...

Remember that this is a country where one cannot hold one's spouse's hand in public. Nothing surprises me in SheikhMohammedLand. I would never go there anyway, as you can never be sure if you are breaking some asinine law that was passed in the previous 24hrs lol
A country based on absolute and total control by the state.

How obvious it is that the writer of this piece of tripe doesn't know anything about the e-cigarette. She states that there's no proof that the e-cig will allow people to stop smoking then she adds her own unproven statement. The the e-cig will encourage more smoking. There's no study that supports or refutes either claim, but just look on this forum and you can find hundreds of anecdotal instances of smoking cessation. I haven't yet seen someone w/ a banner stating a negative number of analogs avoided.

The kid is going to hide the vapor from his father? Only if the father has joined the author in smoking some "funky weed".

vaping will cause hig addiction because there are no filters? What are the filters supposed to be filtering out? We do not think that there is any tar in the vapor to be filtered. Again few studies have been done to support this, but those small ones that are available (even the FDA's) did not report tar as a component of the vapor.

Sure, e-cigs "could" encourage the habit of drug addiction. Sorry too late for that, analogs already did it first. (Too bad there's not a barfing smiley. This would be a good place for it.)
