I was using 901 atty with the 510 adaptor. Tried my 510 atty, didn't work. Replaced battery, didn't work. Cleaned the thread, spring coil and also the batt and atty contact. Still would not work. Tested my 901 atty on another mod, it's firing. My SB just stopped working while I was using it today. This has been my primary pv and just sad I can't use it.

You most likely crushed the insulator with that adapter. Thread your 901 onto the adapter all the way. Now look at the center post of the adapter. The insulators in the 510 connectors are only 1mm thick. I bet you that after installing the 901 onto the adapter, the center post sticks out close to a 1mm. What do you think happens to the insulator when you thread the adapter onto the SB. You may only tighten it lightly when installed. From the picture I see you are using a drip shield. The drip shields fit so tightly that they are hard to remove. I notice most people twist on the drip shield to get it off, this action WILL overtighten the atomizer/adapter and crush the insulator.

For anyone having issue with their SB, this might help: "You most likely crushed the insulator with that adapter. Thread your 901 onto the adapter all the way. I bet you that after installing the 901 onto the adapter, the center post sticks out close to a 1mm. What do you think happens to the insulator when you thread the adapter onto the SB. You may only tighten it lightly when installed. You can try to lightly pry the center post up a bit to make contact with the 510 atomizer again."
