Silver Bullet (original) + RBA

New member with a question. I have been lurking here for a long time gathering info as needed, etc. The wife an I have been using the silver bullet with tenergy Life4po RCR123A batteries stacked for 6v with DC 1.5 LR XXXL cartos by smok for the past 2 years. The inconsistency in cartos has finally gotten to us so we are looking to move to a clearomizer or glassomizer tank. Either the nautilus or kanger mega.

I know most people think we are crazy for vaping at this power level but it works for us. I have seen a few videos of people rebuilding the heads for the kanger and nautilus and have also seen some information regarding RBA and the silver bullet. Seems the consensus is this is a dangerous prospect for the Silver Bullet. Of course they say the same thing regarding battery stacking in this device as well. What equipment and processes would be required to safely rebuild atomizer heads for the nautilus/kanger or a straight rebuildable atomizer with the silver bullet. Money is no obstacle really but I see no point in buying another mod, especially a VV when we will just crank it to the highest setting and leave it there. Plus, a VV may regulate the power down to a level that is lower than the silver bullet currently allows (which, if my calculations are correct, range from 27w-36w over the life of a charge in our current configuration).

I have a standard multimeter available (are there screw-in types available?) and have no problem purchasing an ohm meter to test new builds/rebuilds but it is my understanding these testers apply very little voltage and things could get real, real quick when real power is first applied by the mod. Any advice or information is greatly appreciated. Please advise.

Silver Bullet with AGA-T2 RBA

The Silver Bullet was my very first mod. It is nearly two years old and has stood the test of time. I use it to this day with an AGA-T2 genesis-style rebuildable atomizer tank (see pic above) and a Kayfun Lite Plus rebuildable tank atomizer. Between the two, I strongly recommend a Kayfun-style tank over a genesis-style RBA.

The genesis-style atomizers use the more difficult stainless steel mesh wick, leak if not held upright, and must be tilted sideways in order for them to wick adequately. The Kayfun-style can use either organic cotton (preferred for better flavor) or silica string wick. They are not position dependent, are a better design, and easier to rebuild. Kayfuns are flavor machines, and generally perform best in the 1.0 - 1.5 ohm range.

You will absolutely need an ohm reader or digital multimeter to check the resistance of your rebuildable coils. If you make coils below 0.8 ohms you should use a 30 amp battery.

AltSmoke does not recommend stacking batteries in the Silver Bullet. In fact, you should be using a high-drain, safe-chemistry IMR battery, NOT Life4po RCR123 batteries in any mod. You could choose to use a Kick2 in the Silver Bullet with an AltSmoke Kick Sleeve. This would give you voltage regulation, ability to change your voltage output to 6 volts without stacking batteries, and provide protective circuitry against short circuits and over-discharge of your batteries.

I am in no way attempting to go sub ohm. I was thinking more along the lines of rebuilding clearomizers or rba to play with single coil vs dual vs micro coil all around the 1.5-2.0 to see what we may or may not like. I have discovered a lot of conflicting information regarding stacking these batteries I am using and the potential danger. Some say it is safe chemistry and the batteries are protected and others say don't do it. We are coming up on 3 years without issue but I am old enough to know that 1 issue is all you need and it can happen any time.

I recently started researching the discharge rate of these batteries but trying to process all the math most of the VV mods or regulators seem to max out around 15w. My calculations show I a currently running 27w-36w depending on the charge state of the battery. My concern would be reduced power going to a single battery setup and/or reduced battery life trying to upkick a 3.7 high discharge to 6v. I feel like I am missing something but what is it? Too many people seem to be enjoying vaping with a 15w limit even though we originally tried the SB with 3.7v and DC1.5LR cartos and were less than satisifed with the cool vapor and long draw times. Never use a protected ICR Li-Ion battery with a rebuildable atomizer. These will only have a 2.5 amp continuous discharge rate (totally insufficient). You need a battery with at least 10 amp continuous discharge rate.

Only use a high drain IMR (unprotected safe-chemistry) battery. A 18650 IMR battery will have at least 10 amps continuous. IMR/hybrid batteries like the Sony batteries will have up to 30 amps continuous for sub-ohm coils less than 0.8 ohms.

for the record I quit screwin around and ordered a sigelei 20w, 6 or so efest 35a (might get some sony's later on) and a few intellicharger I2's to go with this nautilus. Researching RBA tanks now for the inevitable switch I'll be making
