I bought a SB 2nd hand off of the classifieds. worked great for about 2 weeks but was in great condition. I in no way blame the seller for any problems. This is merely to tell about what i did to fix a problem i encountered with the infamous Silver Bullet. The SB is a great device that rocks like a tank. when it works......problem i had was it stopped firing the atty and the batteries would quickly get hot and damn near explode.
i trouble shot the problem and fixed it. good thing i know a little something about modding. i tried everything. from simply changing atties and batteries, even looking at all the solder points inside the top cap. finally found the problem.
there was a small gasket type washer underneath the atomizer connection pin. i pulled the pin up and saw the gasket was deteriorating. it looked more like a C becase a small portion looked burned or deteriorated. i removed it and was able to find a really tiny oring in my supply box and replaced the gasket with a rubber oring instead of the wierd semi paper type gasket that was originally there. and viola!! just like new!
I tried to contact altsmokes rep here on ECF but that was only a couple days ago and didnt get a reply... maybe because i bought it 2nd hand. (not sure if they would honor that). i've never dropped it or anything. it is in perfect condition but im glad i figured it out.
if any one else has a problem with their SB please let me know and i'll try to help!:vapor:

Great information! I won't know whether or not that is my BSB's problem for a couple weeks, 'cause I won't get to it until I get back from vacation. But, I stopped using mine quite a while back due to it not firing, or firing unreliably.

I didn't know it was infamous, heh.

Thanks.
Not sure that its infamous, I have heard quite the opposite about SB's. A lot of the time, the juice that is used can be the cause of deterioration, and I suppose if the atty got hot enough by accidental firing it might melt the insulator.

btw @ 2hottie. Not sure if this is gonna qualify as a review so the mods might move or delete it, just lettin you know.

Well i Gould rephrase that...it's not infamous and they are arguably the most dependable mod out there. But I have heard a few stories that were similar to mine. I just thought I'd share for those who have an SB in hopes to fix it.

Yea I figured they would try to move it to the right place. I couldn't find a forum area that I thought it fit in so I just chose one.

Alcohol and silicone don't mix well.

I've had my SB going on 2 years and haven't had a problem yet.

IMO this isn't a SB problem but a design flaw in atty connectors. This can happen with almost any mod or e-cig battery out there. It's also one of the most common causes of shorting in eGo batteries.
