Howdy everyone! First, I would like to introduce myself: My name is Josh, however, to simplify things, if anyone needs to mention my name in a post, feel free to say Jib or jibgilmon (as they are obviousy easier to remember, since you will see my username more often). I am 19 years old, from the northern suburbs of Chicago, and I attend university in Connecticut.
I am not a cigarette smoker, and I have only smoked two in my life (as per requests for friends' 18th birthdays). I have, on the other hand, been a regular "other" smoker for the past two years, but I do smoke responsibly; I have continued to be a straight-A student, and have yet to experience any encounters with the law. The last month of my schooling has been increasingly stressful, as my finals were last week. Usually, after a long day of studying and working on projects (I am an industrial design major) I like to unwind and relieve some stress by smoking some "other stuff". Last weekend, however, I found myself to be overly-stressed midday, when I still had work to do. Most of the stress relief from smoking was from the physical act of smoking, not the "other stuff", and "the result" was more of a reward for a hard day's work than a stress reliever. And so, in an attempt to battle my stress without getting "the result", I ventured to Walgreens and picked up a Blu disposable menthol. Much to my relief, this was perfect to combat my stress, and it turned out to be the proper alternative.
My mother started smoking cigarettes within the last 5 years, and just yesterday, I was finally able to convince her to try what I had left from my Blu disposable (I stopped using it when I was done with finals; I didn't want to drift into a nicotine addiction). I had been trying to get her to buy an e-cig for the past year, but yesterday was her first time really trying one. Fortunately, she loved it, and vouched to buy a starter kit and do her best to completely switch to vaporizing. Yesterday she bought us both PVs; she got a standard Volcano (seemed like a good product for a first-time user from what we read here), and I got a Magma-T (with a nicotine-free liquid).
Now, I have a question to ask! I have done a bit of reading in the DIY liquid section, and I've noticed that the guides tell you what ingredients are required, however, they don't explain why some of them are necesarry. And so my question is as follows:
If I want to create my own liquid, without nicotine, would it be suitable to simply mix vegetable glycerine (I have a large bottle of food grade form a health store) with a candy flavoring concentrate? Why (not)?
I figure if I am only looking for vapor, a simple solution between those two would be the ideal product, with the possible exception of the sweetener that is sometimes used in liquids.
