I've just started vaping and really, I like it, definitely SO much healthier than smoking.

But I've seen numerous times people saying the vapor in the air from exhaling is "just water vapor". But I think it has to be at least propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycerin. And true water vapor would disappear almost immediately, while my vapor sticks around for a long time.

What is the truth here, please? Is it just water vapor?

Simple answer: No

IMHO only: I have no idea what the percentages are and am unaware of any successful research on this, but you inhale many differnt things such as pg and/or vg, nic, the many chemicals that comprise the flavorings used, and any other additions that some use such as TH enhancer, alcohol, sweeteners ect. How much of what is vaporized from the fluid? I dont know. How much is absorbed by the body, I wish I knew. And finally, what we actually exhale as per your question,... an unknow assortment of the above in unknown quantities, but there is water in it as well.

I have to clean the inside of my car windows almost every other day or so because of the smear from vaping. It does seem greasier than when it was just cigarette smoke, although that was brownish, yelllowish yuk, whereas now, it's clear and not as nasty. I should crack the windows more often like when I was smoking cigarettes alot, but it's too cold out and the vapor smells nice!
My skin is not quite as dry anymore, especially my face (which is closest to the vapor of course). I'm trying to stay hydrated which improves dry skin, but I definitely notice the VG benefits of my vaping :)

That's actually kind of discouraging.

Well not sure if inhaling water vapor is safer than inhaling PG, One time a friend of mine inquired me if I was not afraid to get fungus in the lungs due inhaling vapor....to be honest I was shocked about this argument, I am not a Doctor but it made think that maybe the humidity of the vapor could cause lungs damage, I made some research and I found that PG is actually used as a bactericide!!, there are some studies stating that PG conserves the food pretty well..... humm.... interesting in the fact that a bactericide will kill the fungus. I guess that is not bad to inhale water vapor ocassionally but doing this as often as we vape it will get us some issues on the lungs, there is some disease called pulmonary congestion which is basically water in the lungs....

Now, with that said... I still think that saying that the "liquid" contains a PG base it won't tell what we are really inhaling, is simple chemistry.. we are transforming one element into a different state (from liquid to vapor) and this should break in something else.

Yeah, sure makes sense. Somehow I'd feel a little dishonest saying "oh its just water vapor" if it is actually much a more complicated though probably harmless chemical soup.

I like this. An amusing way to explain it. Eh it's just a harmless chemical soup I'm exhaling....no worries :)
