Not sure if you checked, but make sure that your cotton is not touching the airflow hole at all.

No, there is no contact with airflow hole. It seems condensed liquid seeps between top cap and base. I think different (thicker) o-ring on the base section may help.

I think couple of photos will be useful to explain my problem. Do you have same issue (seepage on the base)? I still think the o ring on the base is not tight enough. I tried different o-rings but then top cap did not fit.
