I think it would be helpful to have a list of single flavors from different vendors that work well right off the bat for new DIYers. It might help them start out with a winner and not get so discouraged while they're learning.

Here's a few I think are good standalone flavors.

Capella:
Chocolate Fudge Brownie
Cinnamon Danish Swirl
Dutch Chocolate Mint
Chocolate Raspberry
Boston Cream Pie

I do recommend adding EM for a more full-bodied mix and/or extra sweetness.

Start by adding 1 drop to 20 drops of no-nicotine PG/VG (for 80/20 you would have a base of 16 drops of PG and 4 drops of VG. For 70/30 it would be 14 drops of PG and 6 drops of VG.) That gives you roughly 5% flavoring, 2 drops of flavoring would give you roughly 10% flavor, 3 drops 15% and 4 drops 20% (thanks Str8V8ping for the easy calculations).

Some prefer to let their samples sit for a few days to meld the flavor. Since it's just one flavor I go ahead and test it knowing that it could change with some steeping. This will give you an idea of the flavor but most of the time it will get better and stronger after a couple of days, especially chocolates and creamy flavors.

When you find the % of flavor you like you can make a 5ml batch using one of the calculators to get the %s. Using a 1ml syringe is the easiest way to get accurate amounts in small batches. 10% flavor would be .5ml flavor and 4.5ml (nicotine, PG/VG) base.

I seem to have good luck with fruity flavors. Of course, this is just my taste, but TPA raspberry is great for me at 10%, TPA peach, strawberry, and keylime are also very good. I found right away I didn't care for tobacco flavors. Steer clear of chocolate and coffee flavors as they seem very difficult to get right (no matter what I did, they always tasted burnt to me). Just my :2c:, I am by no means a pro, and give up easily, so I always stick to 1 flavor mixing.

Capella chocolates are good as a single flavor. I never could find a good coffee flavor until I infused my own using this technique. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/239733-coffee-flavor.html

Any and all caramels and caramel candy (will help also if your mix tastes too dry or brittle) and for me a great stand alone. If you want it allready sweet get Flavorwest caramel candy or TPA has one called Caramel that is sweet on its own.

Flavour Art Peach plus EM

Flavour Art Pineapple plus EM

I for one am very happy to see this thread. I am a newbie to DIY. I have all the supplies to start, but don't know where to start. So thank you very much.

Another suggestion from this newbie to you DIY vets is to start another beginners thread with only 2-3 combined flavors. :D

Funny how I can spend the day in the kitchen creating food, yet an so intimidated with starting my juice trials

You can always mix your sample flavors to get an idea of what they will taste like together. If you've made a sample of Vanilla Cupcake and of Sweet Strawberry mix some of each together. Think about which flavor you want to be dominant and add more of that one. Learning this way will make it easier to come up with good combinations that are right for you instead of someone's recipes that are right for them. That's what makes DIY so appealing, you don't have to accept a vendor's combination or %s or depend on others for recipes... with a little effort you can custom blend your own.

When you're dripping to test flavors, you'll get flavor meld unless you vape some unflavored between tests, so you might as well get some use out of the meld. I try to test single flavors in an order that'll mix nicely (e.g. strawberry - chocolate - coconut, any two in a row are nice together).

It's not a very accurate method, but it's as lazy as you can get.

I have struck out with sooo many peach flavors I can't tell you...4 so far I think. Do I want to order from China...hmmm :blink::confused:

You might not have to. I think RTS Vapes is getting some flavors china sourced but I am not 100 percent on that one. Waiting for an announcement on that one.
