You can use a standard dual parallel coil calculator... nothing really changes.

Saying that, Steam Engine allows for two parallel wire/single coils... mostly to accommodate those that like to twist multiple strands of wire... but as the default is a "zero" pitch twist, it works fine for 2X1 parallel coils.

  1. Start with "Metric Units".
  2. Under "Material and profile"... your wire type ("Kanthal A1" for example), then click on "Round twisted/parallel". (this being two or more wires in parallel, before the twist value)
  3. Under "Twist pitch" the default is "zero"... leave it there. You use '0' for non-twisted (parallel strands) wire.
  4. The rest is self-explanatory... except under "Set-up"... where you leave it on "single coil". Because the program takes into account that you have two wires in parallel already, if you use dual, your wire length / wrap count will double.

If your talking about taking 2 wires and twisting them to make a bigger wire no because unless you duplicated the process each time the same way you could not count on the results. Length of wire number of turns. Just do your twisting and take a good ohm meter and measure out 1 foot and measure it. Then you can do your calculations.
